i dont understand why mitsu makes the evo so cheap looking, i would think if your paying 30k for a car you shouldnt have the same crap as the lower class lancers IMO. thats the reason i went cheaper with an RA b/c it just wasnt worth the money to me. now dont get me wrong i love evos but mitsu shouldnt even call them lancers at all, they should put them in a completely different class.
1. the most technically advanced AWD in the world. (hmm..that can't be cheap)
2. Brembo brakes (2 piece rotors on MR)
3. forged suspension pieces with Bilstein/Eibach combo on MR
4. forged or spin cast wheels
5. high performance tires
6. Recaro seats (quite visible)
7. SST tranny or reinforced 5sp.
8. Aluminum hood,fenders,roof and trunklid
9. Laser welded reinforced chassis
Add it all up and you have close to double the cost of a standard Lancer. And the reason they call it 'Lancer Evolution' as opposed to just Evolution here in the states is because a little company called Harley Davidson owns the rights to the name 'Evolution'.
So, like you said, if it's just about the look of the car (Lancer to Evo) for you, your right. Just stick with a standard Lancer GTS. Great little performance car with most of the Evo's luxuries avail.
But if your ready to climb the performance ladder, there aren't too many choices out there that are better then an Evo.
yeah i know the stock redline is 7000, but fuel cut off is 7600 i think, and at this point in time the only thing preventing the engine from revving to 8000+ is the ecu and perhaps valvetrain. much, much more info is needed but there should be no reason it can't rev that high after the tuners get done with it. in time, in time...
