evo10 SST tranny in IX??

So i really like my evo ix. not one complaint with it...I LOVE IT!!! but i really think that it would be badass to adapt the SST tranny to an evo9 or an 8. i know some sort of adapter plate would be needed and som comp/ work but beyond that..i dont think it would be all that hard

ANY INPUT???????????

I think it would be extremely difficult and very cost prohibitive even if it wasn't impossible.
There's fitment issues as well as the TCU/ECU programming, forget it buddy, get an X

Yeah man you're totally right, i mean it's not like Mitsubishi spent hundreds of thousands of dollars developing the SST specifically programmed to the X ECU and drivetrain...

I hear it's a straight bolt-on actually, let us know how that works out.

You're insane. Kudos if you pull it off, but they are absolutely right. If you could actually pull it off, it would be incredibly expensive AND its terrible for modified evos. I spoke with mitsu about this tranny, and basically, its for those that want to leave the engine alone. Put an intake on the car, and the tranny shuts down. This is why they still offer the 5 speed.

Ditto, and keep dreaming ... It will cost you allot more than trading in your car. Of course it is easier said than done .

CharlesJ, would you mind sharing any more information you have in regards to the part of your quote that I highlighted?

I STRONGLY doubt this, especially with the new motor and its different positioning under the hood. The transmission would be far from just a "straight bolt-on."

You fail at internet sarcasm.

Well, if it's anything like the tranny with paddle shifters in the new Outlander, you so much as breath on it wrong, and the tranny goes into failsafe mode.

I have first hand knowledge of that one.

The sarcasm was a tad bit incognito....

Considering that the Evo X shares nothing with its predecessor, bar the name and a basic idea of layout, I would say You'd have a better idea slapping in a V8, maintaining the 4wd and having a sequential hollinger tranny stuffed in there for good measure.

You have two options. Be happy with your 9, or buy an X. Trying to frankenstein together to have both, not gonna happen. If it does, more power to you.

I dont believe the SST is going to be that strong anyways. I hope Im wrong.

I don't know why people keep on making this same mistake.

Outlander = CVT
EvoX = SST (Dual Clutch Automated Manual)

CVT != SST

Two completely different transmissions.

And this is why I hate explaining why paddle shifters aren't always a good thing, like when my uncle who has a tiptronic transmission tries to tell me that it's the same as what is in Ferraris.
