lotus elise vs evo X
They arent in the same class of car, really. And I am 6'7" tall, and I had to keep the seat in my Evo several clicks from the back, and could stretch.
The only time I could get into a Lotus, I had to break off my legs below the knee and shove them up my ****.
really, the elise is a world class handling car...with a little more raw power on tap, the car would essentially be the perfect handling street car.
But the Evo X has yet to be tested to the degree. If preliminary thoughts are correct about the Evo X (slower steering and heavier weight affecting handling) then it doesnt stand a chance against the Elise.

I haven't driven an Evo X in anger on track, have any of you? I'd love to take an X out for some track time.
I'll say this much - stock vs. stock, I'm 2-3 seconds a lap faster in my Exige than I am in my IX, and when it comes time to go to the track, the IX almost invariably stays at home.
I got the IX because, on the street, it was the closest thing I could find to the feel of the Lotus. On the track, the IX is like driving a bus compared to the Lotus. It's not that the Evo is bad, it's just that the Lotus is that good.
Who here has tracked both?

Elise FTW IMO
Just cause I know the X has a really sweet suspension set-up and the japanese AY (Active Yaw), but I really don't like the look and the new engine of the X, becuase I'm a Die Hard 4G63 guy.
Plus the Elise's power:weight is gonna dominate the X's power:weight period

I do not think th Elise is a better track car for an avarage driver over the evo.
Yes, a talented driver can keep up or pass the evo,if the evo driver suffering with driving skills.
the last two years i been many track events/ here in the states/ between autox and track. stock elise is not better then the stock evo in real life, period. Maybe on paper with professional driver and perfect conditions etc. But when it start to being dusty surface or cold or wet or bumpy etc. the elise will loose. The matter a fact, you feel yourself faster in the Elise since you sitting lower ,car is smaller ,defenietly have a gokart feeling. But that is not equal with speed. BUT deffenietly awsome feeling!
Another hand ,the Exige is different story ,they say. But i never had a chance to see one run against evo yet.
i do not care what the paper said or the car and drive said. I go for what i see on track. I'm sure you will find evo passing elise more then opposite .

.Last time one of my friend showed up with hes brand new 9. He run faster then hes competitor who had a vette. I know.. both was in the student class..
At a time trial, he passed the vette and he almost got kicked out from the track...
EVO/Elise
I have owned an Evo VIII and and Elise for three years--I have tracked both--both wonderful cars with totally different feels.
Without question, the Evo is more forgiving--you really have to overcook things to get it to spin. The Evo is astonishing in the rain--riding on Michelin PS2's. Fantastic steering feel on both cars. The popular description of the difference in feel is that in an Evo you drive over a credit card and you know it is a credit card, in the Elise you can read the numbers. I love them both--they both put a smile on my face every time I drive them. I live in SoCal so the Elise is a daily driver as is the Evo--32K miles on the Elise and 75K on the Evo.
I beleive the Evo and the Elise are the best two enthsuiasts cars. The Evo is an M3 that didn't forget what it was supposed to be (Ultimate Driving Machine). If you dial in the cost/performance of these two machines they stand alone as the ultimate affordable sports exotic and the ultimate sports sedan.
Enjoy!
