Bad year for black cars with manual transmissions?

I'm sorta new around here but I lurk alot though.

I was all set for an Phantom Black MR until I realized the MR meant DSG only. Damn. So now it is planning time, meaning mod planning to get everything I want from the MR since I can't get the MR.

Turns out leather and heated Seats MR only?
OK, I'll get Recaro Toplines for leather and heat.

Turns out Nav is MR only?
I guess I don't need that, save money for the Recaro Toplines.

Suspension upgrades are MR only?
No biggie I'm getting coilovers anyway.

BBS MR only?
OK I'm getting Weds anyway. I'd use the MR stockers for a snow setup anyway.

Black Paint is MR only
WHAT?!?!?!?!??? No way I'm going to paint the car! Major show stopper right there.

Seriously, I need a manual MR. I owned an E46 M3 and avoided SMG on that one for the same reason. Driver involvement. Even if I liked DSG I'm worried about mod potential.

Now I find out Phantom Black is available everywhere BUT the US???

I really like the Evo X but I really don't like being forced and extorted into a DSG. That is what it feels like anyway...

Too bad.

People are not THAT unhappy with the lack of phantom black + 5MT, more like 5MT without all the goodies you listed above.

Hmmm... I really like black cars. Black is hugely popular in general. Making it an MR exclusive in the US is a pretty pointed statement by Mitsu.

The phantom black is the launch color for the MR, hence it's single vehicle availability. Mitsu. did the same thing with the gray MR Evo VIII when it launched, then made it avail. across the board for the IX.
Give it a year and I'll bet black will be avail. on the standard GSR as well.

Mitsubishi clearly decided that Phantom Black was the best looking color on the X.. So why not let only the people willing to pay a premium enjoy it?

Like the above poster said, the color will trickle down the line to the GSR a few years down the road. But for now, it will stay exclusive to the MR. Why? Because they can. and because you're going to want it.

But I am willing to pay the MR premium. I just don't want the DSG.

So basically, Mitsubishisi is telling its traditionalist fanbase to f*ck off; because if you want anything that is good (i.e. Bilsteins, Leather seats, lighter BBS wheels, the color black), you've got to buy the auto-only MR. Pretty damn gay if you ask me.

So go buy another car. No one is forcing you to get an X.

Now why would you make a flippant comment like that? Obviously I know alot about the car and clearly I want an X.
