SF Auto Show
I finally saw the EVO X in the SF auto show. The car looks good, sharp, mean-looking and subtle at the same time. A very nice combination. It's a kind of car that will keep the sleeper look, suppressing its performance or modifications that maybe done to it.
did a great job in making the EVO's image appealing to a broad market.
The STI just do not have that look EVO gives out. The front looks good, but the rest of its body is round, with a soft image.
I'm almost sold to the EVO X!

I went to the show today. No GTR. The show isn't that interesting.
The STI in Blue looked bad. Subaru is going to have to make some drastic changes if they want to compete with the Evo. The STI is not in the same league from a styling standpoint.
The Evo looks pretty good. I was impressed. They've made some changes to the suspension layout. I noticed a steel rear lower suspension link. Most of the others seem to still be Aluminum. It was hard to get a feel for the interior without being able to sit in it. The quality of the Phantom Black metallic looked better than previous paint. I'm not sure if all the production cars will be of similar quality but it seems to be a big improvement over some of the finishes on the VIII's and IX's. They had the fuel mileage numbers posted; 25 city, 31 highway. I thought that was quite an improvement over the 4G63.
I think the Phantom Black makes the car look more upscale. White will probably look more sporty. The car could use a little drop and maybe some 19's.
The Evo was worth the $8 admission. I am seriously considering one in January - February. My biggest disappointment so far is the weight. I hope not to be too surprised by the price.
One other thing. The booth attendants took my name and email and claimed they will send me a $500 rebate coupon for being in the booth at the show. That along with the "repeat buyer" $500 rebate will save $1000. Not bad if it actually works.
