Sport Mode RPMs and Shifting
Sport Mode RPMs and Shifting
In Normal mode auto, the shifting range is usually around 3k-4k when upshifting, it seems, which seems normal. When you put the car in Sport mode auto, it shifts quicker and at a higher rpm range, usually 4k-5k, which again seems normal. But when the car down shifts in Sport mode auto, the rpm range seems kind of high, to me at least. Seems like the car wants to shift down at around 3k-3.5k. Does that seem right? Any one else notice their shift ranges for Sport auto? No, I don't normally drive in Sport auto. Im almost always in Normal auto, and if I feel like being in Sport, I'll switch to manual. But I was just seeing how the car acted in Sport auto today.
Sport Manual for City Driving
Normal Auto for Highway
But as for your question i believe it says somewhere in the manual that sport mode likes to stay above 3k for power reasons... anyone please correct me if i am wrong

Sport auto mode will always try to stay over 3000 RPM to keep the boost going. This way you get instant throttle response (awesome for passing, for example). Sport mode also makes the shifts more aggressive, so it feels much better for manual shifting as well.
