since this car is out in japan, and people in japan invented evo tuning, i'll bet someone who speaks japanese could find that info on a japanese forum and report back to us. it's weird the max boost pressure is not published though...i remember when the viii came out, mitsu used it as a technical selling point in their ads...

That is crazy, the 4G63 would have made more than 5hp on that extra boost! I was expecting the stock boost to be lower than before.

Given that its a smaller turbo, I think that they were more concerned with a broader, more usable power band than actually raising the hp too much.

Read his link once. Boost is actually 24 psi, which seems crazy for pump gas. No way is that going to fly on 91 octane **** in Cali.

I really don't believe it is 24psi. Maybe if it had 8:1 compression, but its 9:1 compression which is higher than the Evo IX and only puts out 5 more hp? Doesnt make sense.

yeah 24 seems really high for only a 5hp gain

if the X has a broader smoother power band I doubt it would have 24psi stock, its a smaller turbo and it would spike pretty hard and taper a lot worse than the 16gs.

finally .. dyno info vs the IX !!

X from low to around 4500rpms beat the IX flat peaking at 43kgm ..

THEN it just lost to the IX all the way ..
IX stock registered 300 while the X posted only 288

Yeah !! now we know
I'm seeing 2 plausible explanations here ..
1 the boost taper is worse than the IX
2 the block is weaker thats why the boost is turned down after peak torque ..

Or just so they can sell the last few remaining IX .. then they turn up the boost again

So where is the "big deal, if you really want to race you're gonna throw on a bigger turbo anyways" post, preferably by someone who has never touched a turbo in their lifetime?

If the faster response time isn't due to the mivec then it has to be due to a smaller turbo. That means less future mod potential of the stock turbo, which is a "big" reason I got my IX.
