Edmunds full test on STI
JDM:

USDM for fatties: (although this is not a USDM car)
Aarrgghh...stupid insurance companies. I'd gladly pay more in insurance to swap the seats if I had an STI. I'd just tell the insurance company that the seats do more harm than good as I would indirectly devolop bulimia as a result of the mere sight of those hideous seats inducing instantaneous and uncontrollable vomiting.
Yes, the Recaros are a shame to lose. The STI seats don't look too bad, they actually ook a little better than the 04 STI's (which don't hold you for crap anyways). I guess they changed the wider style seats for us FAT AMERICANS
(this may actually have some truth in it as the avg. american is like a giant compared to an avg. Jap.)

They at least look a little better in that picture. It's all in the shadows.
On the other hand, want to see something sad? These are the seats on my Civic:

Those Si seats are amazing. Does someone, Subaru in particular, want to explain to me why a $20k 200hp car has nicer seats than a $36k 300hp car? Subaru should be ashamed of themselves.
The only thing keeping me from buying an STI is the seats. The 5spd, sedan config., and lack of Phantom Black on the X GSR give me second thoughts on the Mitsu. Since they both disappoint, I'm almost tempted to save the cash, go with a Mazdaspeed 3 and wait for the next generation or significant improvements.

The problem though is that insurance can deny a claim if you tampered with a safety system.
