I am a huge fan of forgien cars but one car that I have yet to read anyone mention is the new Camero. 400HP V8... I don't know if you guys would consider it in the same boat being an American muscle car and everything but put all the Names aside and look at numbers people might be interested in picking one up. From what I understand they are going to price it competitivly against the mustang...which again might catch someone's eye.

just my opinion though...I could be wrong

I know, I know my first post...please be nice.

Nothing wrong with your post, open minded people would consider all cars, if the camaro lives up to the hype i would say its a definately a competition in straight line speeds, i don;t know about handling though. The Evo and Sti were built with less of straightline performance and more of cornering performance in mind so with that said i don't think the american muscles will compare in that category.

I agree. If you looking at performance cars and don't have any set criteria like 4 doors or AWD - the Camaro should definately be worth checking out.

The Camaro has never really handled too bad, but this car should take the handling to a new level. It's going to be based on the Holden Commodore which has 50/50 weight distribution and IRS. Several of the Australian mags have said it handles as well as a BMW. This isn't too surprising considering the suspension was benchmarked against BMW, Lexus, Jaguar, Lincoln, etc.

I believe it will be powered by the Corvette LS3, but slightly detuned (390-420hp).

The Supra successor is coming out under the Lexus badge as the LFA-1, I'm pretty sure. Good luck seeing a sub-$40k price tag on one of those. If Nissan can sell their GT-R under the Nissan badge for $70k, you better believe Toyota is going to ask at least the same for their supercar, especially under their high-end name.

TSX Type-S should be nice, if it does come through with sh-awd and more powerful engine as is rumored.

If its true thar the EVO will be close to 40k then i would say 335xi, G35 awd, New A4 3.2 & C350. I would personally take the 335i at that price range.

I don't think the X is just going after AWD cars, they are going after hi-performance in the 30K dollar range.

I wouldn't choose the G35 awd...Not a lot of aftermarket parts available for the car. plus it is way heavier than the RWD's, obviously. I have a lightly modded G35 sedan rwd and love it. Plus AWD does not come in stick...

Also, I'd wait for the G37 sedan. I see no reason for Nissan *not* to make it.

A Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution has no place amongst any of the other cars mentioned in this thread, period. And yet, those are the cars that Mitsu chooses to target? Ok, setting an S4 as a benchmark is not a bad idea, but to actually market their car towards the S4's audience? Get real . Its like when they cast Phillip Seymour Hoffman as the villain in Mission Impossible 3. The guy is a good actor in a comedy, but then who can take him seriously as a bad guy?

The Camaro may be very similiar to the GTO, both of which are made by GM.

I've head rumors of Acura/Honda bolting up a turbo to their k-series in either the new TSX (coupe version????) or possibly an even higher version of the TL. The TL Type-S is a beautiful car, inside and out, and has the reliability that Honda is known for. Id definately consider one, especially if the things that I have heard (from a head shop-tech at Acura btw) are true. I really like the new camaro's, especially when they drop the SS; I just hope that they bring the friebird/TA back (wishfull thinking?). The new 135I from Bimmer is going to me an absolutely amazing car, IMO. Getting back to the new X; I am a fan of the evolution and always will be, but I found my love within the VIII/IX's. Will I ever buy a X? probably not. And if I had the money, and wanted to buy a brand-spankin new sports car, my money would go to Nissan with the new GTR. Yeah it's 70k, but I can dream can't I? My VIII will be sitting in my garage for a very long time, and I will enjoy every single second that I am behind the wheel. There will always be something faster, something that handles better, but I found mine, and I am in love with-it...haha

The Camaro should be under $30k and better in every way (when we got the GTO in the US, it was already ~6 years old).

I'm expecting 0-60 in 4.6-4.8 sec, 1/4 in 12.7-12.9, top speed over 170mph and 25+ mpg on the highway.
