FQ Evo X coming to U.S.
I think something else that will influence whether the VIII and IX would be highly sought after would be if we dont get the Evo over here anymore. Lets say that they continue to build them, but dont sell them over here anymore, after the X. I think that could potentially raise the value of the VIII, IX and X.
that's what they said of the porsche speedster in the late 50's and early 60's. i mean who would want a car that came with a sparse interior, making it lightweight, the economy model and causing low production of units of the that model.because of the low number units manufactured and its racing history, today the speedster is one the most sought after porsche(porsche is not a two syllable word).
i think before you start calling people delusional, you yourself should walk into a library and get educated on the subject of automotive history.
ahhh... i love my RS
Cars generally become classics due to limited production, or special significance, I.E. 1st or last of a model. NONE of which the Evo VIII/IX are. Under special circumstances, cars with high production, yet dismal sales can become classics simply because no one bought them to begin with, making the actual number of cars that made it to the public very low; example, the Hemi Road Runner.
The only people I see claiming the Evo VIII/IX will be a classic are those who own them. That, to me, seems like people deludingly themselves because they no longer have the "Top Dog" and now all they can do is resort to making ridiculous claims trying to rationalize there purchase.

The people who think the VII and IX will be a classic simply because they don't like the X are the ones that annoy me.
I don't see why the Evo's can't be classic? Everyone thinks of cars that were built before their lifetime are classics on these boards. It's so easy to crack jokes and laugh about an Evo being a classic now but what about 30yrs from now when most of us are pushing 60yrs old or more? Do you think we'll looking at 64' Impalas or 2006 Evos? Maybe both but I wouldn't rule it out just yet.
92-95 EG chassis Civics are going to become classics. They were mass production cars, but their lightweight, mod friendly nature have built a strong pressence for them in the import world. A nice EG hatch can go for as much as 6k, and people seem to be offering more for them.
The VIII and IX are VERY capable cars. They span pretty wide as far as automotive performance goes, and they do almost all of those things well. To think that they don't become sought after cars in the far (note, I said "FAR") future would be dense.
But that doesn't mean the X couldn't be as well. Who knows, the X might show up and become the most bad ***, power making Evo yet. All it's going to do is solidify the Evo lineup. Because in 10 years, who wouldn't want a B11 in their lighter VIII or IX? IF the B11 makes good power, and you swap it into the CT9A chassis, you have a win/win situation!

Why is it that every IX fan boy is so dismissive about the X? Like their car is the end all be all Jesus-mobile?
My IX is ugly... the X looks hot - to me. I'm just really skeptical of the X's performance, at least for now. And therein lies the problem. No one bought the IX for looks. We bought it because it hauls ***. People are (or aren't) going to buy the X for it's appearance. Which is a different group of people.
