FQ Evo X coming to U.S.
FQ Evo X coming to U.S.
http://www.drivingsports.com/blog/20...itsubishi.htmlIn this guys test review he hinted that mitu has a "High HP" evo in the works
"Company officials couldn’t directly say, but left the impression that the Evo X story isn’t over yet, and the obvious empty parking space at this product launch was for the true racecar version."

I don't think he's talking about the FQ...probably talking about the RS. Although, it would be pretty sweet if we finally did get an FQ over on this side of the pond.
Hmmmmm, what I find interesting is a comment (add-on to the article):
Mitsubishi has this to say about the 0-60 times and performance between the GSR and MR with the TwinClutch-SST manumatic:
"With the software not finalized, it is hard to confirm those figures.
While the 5MT is capable of sub 5-second, 0-60, the TC-SST will deliver a slower 0-60 by design. In its launch mode, the TC-SST does not utilize 100% of the engine power avaialble as on the 5MT car. The MR is designed to excel on the track and has proven faster than the GSR on the circuit and from 40 mph on up. The 5MT still has an advantage at launch."
Basically Mitsubishi stated that the 5-speed tranny is actually better for launching but the SST is better for track use.
As far as the true racecar version I am thinking that they may offer a light weight version of Evo X with an increased HP output (something Nissan will do with the new GT-R as there will be a base version and a high-end version with lighter weight and increased power output)

As much as I like Evo X I wouldn't even think of buying it in the very first year, this is a sophisticated high-end sportscar with a lot of new things that may need to be worked out further. And in the mean time I believe that Mitsu gradually will improve the performance of Evo X (just like they did from Evo VII to IX). There will be some kind of improvement on yearly basis.
Until that happens, one thing is clear for the pure Tuner market: Mitsubishi just made the 2006 Evo IX MR an instant classic.
Woo hoo!
But seriously, a race version of the X would be sweet.

[QUOTE=MR. Tim;5121944]True. People can speculate, but its too hard to tell at this point. The IX would have to be the last, best Evo for quite some time before it becomes a classic. Even if the X isnt as good as the IX (not saying its not), the XI, XII, XIII, XIV and XV would all also have to be not as good as the IX also. I dont see that happening. Mitsu surely wouldnt be that stupid........
In the U.S. i can see the VIII/IX being a classic, because we don't have nothing else to compare it to, since we dont get the previous models here. If the X is not responsive to mods like the IX and handle loads of boost on the stock block = IX FTW, and with the added weight, smaller turbo, mid 30/40k pricetag,SST reliability issues, it doesnt look promising. Even the FQ models won't have the same power output as the previous FQ's

that's what they said of the porsche speedster in the late 50's and early 60's. i mean who would want a car that came with a sparse interior, making it lightweight, the economy model and causing low production of units of the that model.because of the low number units manufactured and its racing history, today the speedster is one the most sought after porsche(porsche is not a two syllable word).
i think before you start calling people delusional, you yourself should walk into a library and get educated on the subject of automotive history.
ahhh... i love my RS
