thing to remember #3.) the evo is a halo car. the technology they develop for their low volume evo must trickle down to the masses, otherwise it was for naught. the lower end cars are supposed to look and feel like, but not be the halo car. in that regard the lancer and lancer RA is a great interpretation of the evo at a much lower cost with ample trickle down tech.

thing to remember #4.) the evo to the average buyer is a RICE car. sure WE know what it's all about, but ask the MILLIONS of other consumers and you will get blank stares. show them a pic and they'll puke. BOTH the IX and the X are "radically" styled when compared to bread and butter civics, camrys, 3series, etc.

thing to remember# 4a.) people usually DON'T want to stand out of the crowd. people DON'T buy wildly styled cars unless it's "cool" to do so like the mini or beetle. the only time you want to stand out is if the car is a ferrari or bentley or any other car that will make people think you're rich/powerful, etc. the evo isn't that car for 99% of the population.
I totally agree. Its the same case with the previous WRXs and STi. Minor visual differences between them. Its no big deal if it resembles the Evo X. They just have a direct competitor for the WRX now which I'd believe is the point of this car. I think it'd be awesome to see the Evo Tech trickle to the other Mitsu vehicles.

Everybody thinks that Mitsu messed up by upscaling the X so much and upping the price. Maybe they had a better idea, like sale a lower cost X, in addition to the X.

The RA should be no more than $25K but I know it will be around $35K out the door... cause al cars cost about $10K too much....

Any details on the turbo for this puppy?

I for one can't afford an Evo but it is my ideal vehicle. I think that is the thinking the Mitsu is going through, they are trying to get more costumers towards their high-end models. As if using the RA to introduce new costumers to the Evo.I mean, honestly? For the daily driver guy that wants a fun car to drive with some options to upgrade down the road is this not perfect? Way to go mitsu! I might consider picking one up.

Heh this looks good... been reading alot.

I have a 04 lancer ralliart. I call this ralliart TRULY- the evo's little brother. Cause i think it will def be lighter than the Evo X by like 100-150 lbs ( this is an assumption but im sure of it).

It might not have the AYC but it has the same 2.0 4b11T engine so maybe the internals are not the same ( ex the cams, and etc - which i think is somewhat not true cuz they jus detuned it), but this car wil prolly be at the most 28k out the door i believe. With u saving at least 5+ G. You can def modify this lil bro to spank the older bro ( hrmm .. hrm Evo x ).

Mitsu throwed out some good options. But the ralliart might be the lighter and cheaper car everyone is lookin for. It can basically be dubbed an RS!! Even though its truly not cuz of the missing components of AYC and near stlying of the Evo X. But with the money saved on buying an EVO X, u can def make this car go and make it look meaner.

It is not the best looking car but it's defiantly what I’m looking for since the evo is out of my league, price wise. If the price is reasonable I would trade in my 03 oz ralliart. I just wonder if it can handle some abuse might be an all right weekend track car.

Now that everyone can just go out and buy a Ralliart Lancer and have exactly what an Evo has, it makes the Evo X pointless. If they were going to make this, they should change the hood, no chrome strip, no dual exhaust, and no Recaros.

I'm paying 40k and someone paying around 28k can get exactly what I have. Bull****.
Man your really looking at this the wrong way. You shouldn't be wishing the ralliart had less features, you should be thinking if the X needs to offer more for the price and if spending 40,000 is the right thing to do.
People have been saying for quite a while the X is going overpriced for what your getting, it seems that you are just now realizing it and its getting under your skin.

I strongly disagree. To be the same price as an SRT calibre, neon, etc, it would have to give up a lot. Those cars suffer heavily in the quality department not to mention the added technology on the ralliart. WRX is the only fair comparison and being that the ralliart comes standard with SST and an ACD, its justified to cost more

I think the Ralliart should be priced somewhere between the $23K MazdaSpeed3 and the $33K VW R32. That's where the WRX is priced and the Ralliart is designed to go up against the WRX. So, if the Ralliart follows the pricing of the WRX, it will be somewhere around $24K-$30K depending on which options you put on it. The cars I mentioned I think will be the direct competitors for the Ralliart and all will perform at a similar level.

I think the ralliart should be priced at $30K, with the Evo GSR base at $32K and with the evo X MR at $40K fully optioned.
