X will have the same following with aftermarket parts as previous Evos.
It took 9 generations for the 4G63's Aftermarket to get to the point it is today.

The IX and X are completely different cars. As such, they need to be evaluated on their own respective merits. The X is to the IX as the VII was to the VI.

I just went through the same thing. I wanted a track tool, and couldn't give a crap about luxury or nav, and the extra weight of the 10 was a no-go for me. The saturation of hi-po parts, and R&D on the 9 would make it easy for me to get a good track car built without having to play Guinea pig. Something I didn't want to do. Having driven the 9 for a few hundred miles on the street however, I've learned that I probably wouldn't want this to be my DD. Especially if I were to do any long-distance runs. The 10 will probably be a much smoother riding car, and will be better in this area. Just gotta choose which animal you want. Raw, sharp-edged track tool=9. Comfortable feature-packed car, with more of a "touring" feel=10. Maybe a couple of years down the road, after all the hi-po R&D has been done on someone else's dime, the car will be as good or even better than the 9 on the track, but you'll still need to lose a lot more heavy peripheral crap, than you would on the 9. Cost seems to be a lot more on the 10 as well. I personally would look at a BMW for $40-G's.
