Jump into X or test the IX??

Wanting an Evo for so long it is a difficult decision. I personally have never driven or been driven in an Evo and the closest I've ever been to one was on the showroom floor or on the street. Now that I have an opportunity to finally buy one idk if I should just go and buy the X or at least test drive the IX and make my decision from there. Just wondering what you guys think?

Definitely test drive both cars first.

Go test drive the IX, see if you still want to wait for the X.

Yeah, most of the other people outside this forum tell me to just get the X just because its "NEW" and that it has to be better, but I've always liked the IX and its more aggressive looks plus the aftermarket products for the IX are crazy and the 4G63 is a monster and its proven to be effective. Well I'll just have to wait like everyone else so I can make my decision...hopefully not much longer.

Thanks

X will have the same following with aftermarket parts as previous Evos. Just look as some photos from Japan in show 'n shine. Just make sure you know what you are getting yourself into.. Once you start modding you won't stop. My Evo will probably pass $50k mark this year ...

if you're concerned with resale value, go for the x.

You've got to test drive the IX. It's a ballistic point to point car with very sensitive steering and very good handling. However, it's not a good daily driver (interior is crap, little soundproofing, heavy clutch, all or nothing power delivery etc). I reckon the X will be a good car which will keep most of the fun of the X and make it more livable on a day to day basis. I'll test drive the X when it comes out and if it's good I'll trade in my modded s2000 for one.

I was going to wait for the X (might still get one for the wife) but two things made me get the IX.

1) The 4G63

2) I test drove it first

After test driving the IX MR pretty much everything paled in comparison.

I agree, I think the X is going to be a much better daily with the much improved interior and "softer" suspension (I put "softer" in quotes since it handles better on paper but feels more comfortable than the IX).

I drive my IX daily though and have no problems. But then, I did drive Tein-coiled Subarus as dailys for 5 years

This is in no way fact, but for some the opinion is that the IX is the last "true" Evo. If nothing more, it's the last of the 4G63, which is an engine that has stood the test of time.

my recommendation is to wait for the ralliart to come out at near the end of the year. Then buy a cheap used VIII to play around with and then use the ralliart as a daily driver. Just my personal opinion

Kind of hard to say, since you first have to sell it in order to resell it.
