Getting rid of your present EVO for the new EVO X
I'm definitely buying the X. The 8/9 were great cars, with a proven motor. But, the X will prove itself and then some. And anyone who says that the 8/9 look better, have your eyes checked. Every single magazine, as well as all the polls taken, indicate that the majority of the population find the new style to be much more sleek, sporty, and more mature. So, not to say that your opinion in invalid, but your opinion is invalid. And to the bone head promoting the caliber, it's a great chassis that is similar to the evo's, but it's not half the car that the EVO is, and for the price you shouldn't expect it to be, or claim that it is. Don't show a video of a modded srt-4 to compare to a stock evo x. Apples and oranges. God, why do I even use this forum. You people are ridiculous.
I never said that it was silly. My point was valid - the Caliber is a good performer both modded and stock.
No. I was going to, but after seeing it at the SD car show, it did not appeal to me. Maybe the way it was being display; it had smudges, also it was roped off. Plus now that we are heading to economic recession, it don't make sense to be wasting money. But if I were to, I would consider the Nissan GT-R. It really is a good price for the value, if you could afford it.
I'm not in a position to buy one right now anyway but I think I'd wanna wait to see everyone else's reaction for a while first. I'm very skeptical about alot of things with this car. (most of them have been discussed too many times already). Who knows though, maybe in the future after all the hype is gone and the cars have proven to be reliable and mods are readily available. Right now though I'm very close to paying off my VIII and the prospect of buying a house puts a hold on any purchases in excess of 100$ LOL. Was that a boring rant or what??!!!
I don't think I will trade my GG IX MR for an X. I went to Long Beach Mitsu to check out the X today. They had three cars on the lot, all of them red. The two with SSS package were sold, and only the base model without SSS was available.
It was raining when I got there, which seemed like the perfect time to check out the AYC, which to me is the most important upgrade on the USDM cars. But they wouldn't let me drive it, unless I was ready to "make the deal today." That's not possible, since I can't know if I want to buy the car at all if I haven't driven it yet. Kinda sucks since I had my sweet IX trade with me and I'm a middle aged guy, not some kid who's going to redline it on a test drive (huh huh, at least I don't look like I would do that).
I guess they figure they can sell it to someone else. I walked away without talking price.
Actually, I'm kinda underwhelmed by the car in person. It is better looking than the VIII and IX, but then I didn't buy my Evos for what they look like. It weighs 250 - 300 lbs. more than the IX, depending on model, which is not nearly made up by the extra 5 hp. It's more luxurious (that's a relative term) than the IX, but seems softer, which is a bad thing.
It seems to me that the only thing I really want that only the X has is AYC, and it's not worth another down payment and extending the financing period beyond when I would own my IX, just for that.
I'm going to pass for now and wait 6 months or so to see how the owners really like it and how it does on the track. First batch bugs ought to be worked out by then too.

someone who owned an VIII posted on here that it drives the same as his old VIII - I'll wait for the MR to come out as an Evo XI to make the jump! Need some aftermarket parts to make it worthwhile for me!!
Not true. The X (and the Lancer/Outlander twins) share an updated version of the Caliber chassis (it's both wider and laser welded). The engine block is similar but the Mitsu. block adds additional external gusseting, forged internals and a completely different head design.

i dont know but i got my VIII free so i will be keeping it and modding it. im not even up to the level of where i want to be on the VIII, so i wouldnt want to start over. plus i got an 03 VIII very first ones with all the bugs, big mistake...i'll wait although i am kinda growing on the X!
I love the front end on the X, but thats about where the love ends. I wonder what a EVO X front end would look like on a VIII-IX???? I wouldnt doubt a front end conversion kit coming out later on. Hmmm... anyone with some good cut and paste skills?
