16 City / 22 Hwy

Lancaster Mitsu in Lancaster, CA (1 hour North of LA) received their first GSR last night so I took a little trip. Only option was the SSS for $2000. The GSR wheels looked much nicer than what the pics provide and I was impressed.

I was a little surprised by the Munroney sticker showing the 16 City / 22 Hwy gas mileage. The recent rating change for "real world" driving is noticeable.

Everything else? Very nice.

Don't get me wrong, sparky. I love the car but with an 84 mile round trip daily commute it would be a concern. If I lived 10 miles away it's a no brainer but it's not possible since I work at Edwards AFB, CA near the last telephone pole near the really big sagebush. Maybe I'll carpool.

I don't pay much attention to what the EPA thinks the mileage is going to be. Didn't they change their rating system recently anyway? I'd wait until we have some real world numbers before declaring that the X gets worse mileage than the IX. During the summer I certainly average more mpg on my STI than the 24 mpg the EPA says I should get, and my commute is not 100% freeway. So I don't really believe the numbers...

The EPA changed the way they configure MPG's for 2008. Virtually brand lost 2 to 3 mpg compared to identical 2007 models.

Do some research @ http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/findacar.htm

A 4 cyl Toyota Camry that got 24 city mpg in 2007, is now only rated @ 21 for the same 2008 model.

Well, something is seriously wrong with those figures. That's significantly better than the regular Lancer and something about that doesn't add up

So True, you are buying an EVO, not a hybrid civic. You buy it for the joy of driving, not for getting great gas mileage
