100% different, um which lancer are you talking about. Because the pre 05 Lancers don't look 100% different than the VIII and IX. Also the EVO X does not look the same as the lancer, similiar, but the same is stretching it. Stop freakin' exaggerating, you probably tell girls your ..... (don't want to get banned ). But I do admit it does look very, very similiar to the Ralliart. That is surprising, I thought it would look more base like with a front mount, but it seems to look almost exactly like the EVO.

2009 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart

I definitely hear what your saying, but there are noticeable differences. I remember hearing Mitsubishi reps talking about how the Evo X is based of the '08 Lancer body, back when it was still the Prototype X. The major obvious differences are the front grille and air dams in the hood. A lot of people are taking their base lancers and adding a carbon fiber decal to the grills, making it look much more similar to the X.

Bottom line though, if you're not a fan of the Evos (any year), you probably won't be able to tell the difference between them and the base Lancers. When I had my '03 OZ Rally, a lot of people mistook it for an Evo. I really can't see that happening with the '05-'06 base Lancers and the Evo IX's, someone would have to be blind to mistake those.

just look at the above pics. its hard to tell if its a regular lancer or an evo when you see them on the streets

i mean with the evo 8's and 9's you knew it was an evo every time you see one the street. evo 8/9's looks was more agressive and way different from regular lancers and ralliarts of the same year

The only way I can tell an Evo now from a Lancer is by the giant @$$ wing on the back. And then you gotta be careful it ain't a poser. I like the new Lancer look so it doesn't bother me anyway.

So is Mitsu trying to play match maker and bring the Lancer and EVO enthusiasts together as a whole?

The new X is just as different as previous Evo's from the base Lancers. Front end, rear bumper, wide body fender flares, lower stance, different wing, wheels and hood and the side vents. Its easy to tell the two cars apart and obviously its going to have similarity's they are both of the Lancer breed.

Well there is a valid point about them being similiar. I think it would be even more valid when comparing the Ralliart and Evo X, as i think the similiarities between those are even less!

But going back to the Lancer, as an owner, I can say to the trained eye you can spot big difference instantly

The Lancer looks like the Lancer Evolution...because they are both Lancers...just one's an Evolution and the other one isn't. Lancers look like Lancers...because Lancers ARE Lancers...

Who gives a f***? All the better for flying under the radar, unless you really are a poser who likes to show off the fact that he's driving an Evo.
