FAST key. Do you like it or not?
My only complaint about this fast key system is the ignition switch. Sometimes I cant get the damn thing to turn. Its like the wheel locks are interfering or something. I have found what you need to do is push the "fake key" knob in and wait for a click. Once it clicks, then you can start the car. I am guessing it doesnt click sometimes because it doesnt detect the key or something. I am attempting to drive it like I drive my wifes car, with the key in my pocket all the time.
Oh yeah, you can also change how the system works via the Nav options menus. You can change the system to unlock all the doors when you approach etc. There are a lot of options you can set in there. Change how often the wipes go, fast lane change signaling etc. You know what, Im gonna start a thread on this. There are some things that are kinda neat that I doubt anyone knows about.

mine came with two remotes. which i assume is pretty standard.
i agree with the push start, although the bmw push start works for ****, so who knows if the evo one would have been any better.
also, since i have it, i now hate the lock on my front door. i need to make that keyless too

I prefer these types of ignition systems compared to the push button thingy. When we do electrical work on these cars for testing, we need to put the ignition in the "on" position and not start the car. With the push button starting, it's weird, you have to do some kind of trick to get them to work like that, some cars you cant. Regardless, they all take some getting used to.

So...what happens if, say, you park your car VERY CLOSE to the livingroom, where you left your keys on accident and walked out to your car? Does the car still open? Does it start? If it starts, does it shut down as soon as it's out of range, or does it simply refuse to start the next time when you've already gotten to where you are going?

The range isn't that far. The car would have to be in the living room for that scenario. If i remember right it is out of range at 2.5'-3.0'. I have yet to see it "kill" the engine once the key leaves the car though. It just would not restart in that case. I've checked my mail with the car running, in the garage and the mail box a few yards away, just to come back to a running car and a warning on the dash telling me to verify my key location.
I cant tell you how many times my wife and I have valet our Lexus with the same keyless feature, and forgot to hand the FOB to the driver... Poor guy was able to take the car and park it, but later COULD NOT get the car started again to bring it back....

When you only need the accessories:
just press the start button (without pressing down on any pedals).
When you need to actually Start the car:
depress brake pedal & press the start button.

Yeah, I need to review teh manual on this system. Man, its the biggest manual I have ever seen for a car though. Its like a mini version of war and peace.
