to those who know a Evo X

Is the GSR really weight more then the MR?

Has anyone tested out the "AYC" system? and what do you think compared to the older Evos suspension systems? (now im not trying to start a thread to compare i want to know how is it)

see....from the reviews on the new Evo X i've found out that some say the "AYC" system isnt good and makes the car slow around the cones and makes the car actually oversteer the back!...which i was like what? ...but another review said it was great! and that on a lap with the same driver it beat Evo IX by 2 seconds....How good is this system?

Is this system not worth it? because is the new Evo one by 2 seconds then that would mean the new "AYC" system is not that great...help me out you guys
oh one more thing is it true that the new Evo X can distrbute the power 80% to the rear wheels? or can all Evo's do that in the US.....by the way im going get an Evo....probably by december but its going happen....thats a promise! ....thanks you guys

Nope. MR weighs 77 more lbs than the GSR.

Wow, that's not bad. Remove that spare tire and add some CF parts to the body and voila!

Actually Removing the spare tire is a bad idea. It would actually be better if the the spare tire where made out of concrete. It would ballance the car better.

The 8 and 9 have weight bias of 60/40 or so the X Is better with a 54/46 ratio. The weight ratio along with AYC, and sticker tires are probably why the X can go through the shalom faster.

Yea if you do the math the X has less wight up front.
Evo IX
3300 * .6 = 1980
Evo X
3500 * .54 = 1890

Hmmm. Could that be a reason the X can out brake the IX eventhough the car weight 200 lbs more???

Maybe this X is not as bad as some may think. Acceleration is cool but it's much cheaper to make the car handle better or stop faster.

So adding a sound system w/large subs & an amp would help the X, according to this. That doesn't make that much sense, but hey that would work for me .

The AYC makes a very noticeable difference in turn in and line control. It can make the back come a little loose in a sense, but not how you were making it sound. It helps the car rotate to maintain the line. Never really goes loose as it electronically keeps the car in line. For the average driver/car, it will make you faster. For a pro in a considerably modified evo, it would not help.

that's the only justification i need to add a few subs...
"no mom, if i turn it down the car will handle $h!tty..."
"of course I seem obnoxious but hey it's helping with weight distribution..."

I think it would still help a pro just a little bit, because you can drive the car even harder without loosing control. And to the guy asking about the slalom cones, the editor of the magazine that commented on that, because I know the exact review that you're talking about, was basicallysaying that the ayc is designed for autox and road race courses where the turns have some length to them. The slaloms trick the s-awc system into telling the ayc that the car is initiating a turn and to step the *** end out to tuck the nose in and hold the line, basically preventing understeer. The car doesn't realize that it's going to be turned back so abrubtly in the opposite direction, so it induces more oversteer than that particular situation calls for. The asc and ayc can be turned off in two stages, though. So if you don't want the electronic control and benefits of the ayc, and just want to let the new chassis and incredible suspension show their stuff without any aids, you can do that too. I would like to add that the ayc is incredible, and in most racing scenarios the ayc has great benefits that shave seconds off your lap times.

it would help a pro... the only way it wouldnt is if he where a perfect driver and already takes all that ayc does into his calculation and many professional drivers keep getting better and better times as they let themselves rely more and more on the ayc...
well from what i have seen on many reviews .... mmaaybe i just happened to see the reviews that state that and if so sry hahaha

ohh and its the opposite with the sti, the same dirvers get the best lap times earlier on in their runs as opposed to better and better in the evos MR. i think it would also apply to the gsr...

I'm not sure what they mean by saying the AYC makes it slow and oversteer? Maybe they goofed up and left the stability control on.

Was not saying it would not help a pro, and certainly not hurt. I said a pro in a considerably modified evo. The considerably modified part is key. Once you reach a certain level of modifications, the AYC is just extra weight. Most serious Japanese Evo race cars do not have it. Rarely does the average owner go that far. So for 99 percent of you, the AYC will help and have a noticeable impact.
