When my car is cold it idles around 1k, once at normal operating temp idle goes down to about .5 every car i have owned is that way. I also owned an srt4, seems about the same to me. I have not had any trans or stalling issues. maybe you are having some kind of clutch issue, poping out of gear, stalling. I dunno, i would take it to the dealer.

yeah maybe ima see how it goes, only had the car for about 2.5 weeks now with
just over a 1000 miles on it.

and it rarely happens, but just the fact that it happened thought that was a bit sketchy

" The RPMs are never at 0 unless the car is shut off?"

Every car under the sun does the same thing RPMs "Revolutions per minute" which is when the engine is running it is spinning making Revolutions and all RPMs are is a monitor of how many times the engine spins or makes a revolution per minutes I really don't understand what you were really saying there

What is this guy talking about??? Have you ever operated a motor vehicle. I can understand the tranny problem your having, personally I would take it right back to the dealer. As far as idling, how in the h^ll can a car idle at "0"???? It wouldn't be idling if it was at zero it would be shut off as you may have noticed....

Why would the car be idling at 0 rpm? Most well-tuned, or well-made cars should maintain a constant idle.

Guys stop giving him a hard time,
I think he was trying to say the car idle from 500 to 1k
alot of time the NEW X wants to stall. because it seem like it wants to dip under 500

The eratic idle will be fixed either by a dealer reflash once a tsb is put out for this, which surely it will, or a tuning reflash. The only think so far with the car that really concerns me is the shifter popping out of gear. I have not heard this from anyone else, but that doesn't sound good, as it's likely to only get worse over time. I guess it could smooth out over time as well, but I'm a pessimist. Hopefully I'm wrong, or that this problem is unique to your evo, because I'm buying one in about a week and really don't want to have any problems with it. I hope you get it worked out. Goof luck, and let us know about that cel.

Probably because it never did. I would guess that it idled between 500 and 1000 RPMs.

I believe he means with just the key in the on position without the engine started the rpm needle moves up a little. Thats fine, that is only power being applied to the electrical synchros/servos to drive the gauge.
