Do you think that "Star Shield" or 3M Clear Bra would have prevented the paint damage? How much of the vehicle would need this kind of protection in your opinion? Which panels/sections would need this done? This question goes out to the OP and to Noize also. I am possibly getting a new MR this year, if they ever come out, and don't want this to happen to me.

Thanks

Paint never matches from the factory. Bumpers are always off just because of how they are painted and because they are a different material than the rest of the car. As far as the paint goes, if the blass couldn't hold up i think no matter what kind of clear you would use it would get screwed up.

People don't realize that you can't nitpick a factory paint job because it is a machine hat paints it. For instance factory jobs always have ridiculous amounts of orange peel and will never match all over. Its just the way things work. Sorry to hear about your car but i say count your blessings.

Damn...that sucks about your paint. Some of you former 8 owners will remeber the weird paint chips on the back doors on the 03's. The next year Mitsu started putting clear covers over those areas to prevent the chipping. I would guess they'll do the same thing on the 09's.

Paint jobs looks good though.

wow nice paint job!!!! but i agree with the paint coming off....both of my sideskirts next to the rear tire have small little holes that look like dirt but are really chip markets from rocks...looks like my paint is peeling off by the rock chips

Hi, when I go pick up my Evo, I'm sure that I will run into gravel in Oregon, but here at home, there aren't very many gravel areas. I don't want to spend the money on the clear bra, since I would only need it for a few days. I've heard people recommend painters tape (blue kind right?), but does that come off okay & not leave a residue. Is there anything else that would work just as well, or better.

Thanks for the input.

+1 for the really sick paint job. Sorry to hear about your original paint though. I know I'm already about to cry as I heard 1 rock hit on my way home yesterday and found that on the upper portion of the front driver fender. Now I have 2 chips, and nasty scratch from when it slid on my paint...

As to Kidney, I'd like to hear some info on an answer to his question!
