Depends on if your wallet is ready to support a $10K tranny replacement or not.

Hopefully the higher hp FQ SST cars will show up in the UK soon, that'll be the first sign of what the transmission can take.

Yep I'm waiting for that too, as well as our stateside tuners to get at them, and our track junkies to try to grenade the trannies (but hopefully fail in their attempts!) before I pull the trigger on one. If the tranny is a no-go, I'll have to wait to see if they'll release a revised SST next year, or probably just get a X GSR which will kill my dreams of shifting like a WRC/F1 driver but hopefully it's the best most bulletproof gearbox since the turbo 400 and I'll be blasting through gears quicker than you can say heel toe!

You really actually think mitsubishi sourced a $10K gearbox for the Evo? You must be smoking...there is no way...

Well, no, but that is apparently the cost it takes to replace.

All i really want is a around 300 AWHP. If SST can take that much power, than I will be happy, and I am setting the bar pretty low

I'm pretty sure it can do that. Back when rallart UK's evos ran in WRC, thats about what they were speced at, and they used an older version of the SST in their final season or two iirc.

For me, I'd be more than happy if it can take a full set of breathing and cooling boltons and a tune, pushing upwards to 350whp without overheating the trans. I REALLY hope it can, and its going to test my patience to let the tuner shops beat on them a bit before I drop my wallet. I wonder how long before someone works out a way to incorporate a fluid cooling system in the transmission

As soon as people and/or tuners starts breaking their trannies and then send them to TRE and Shep, then u'll find out when.
