Just get the trim piece from the dealer that is for the cars with Navigation or the piece they sell in Japan in the bare bones model without radio . That just appears to be a double DIN slot (saw a pic somewhere on this forum of an interior that just had a plastic DIN cover in that spot), then just install a radio & gauges in whatever configuration you want.

found it...from: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=92174

The trim piece for the navi is $350 from the dealer, a bit steep. I really like that idea of the part from japan for the bare bones model. Do you know how I could go about getting that?

The colt speed peice is perfect, I wonder how I could get it though.

guys,

I apoligize, I guess I'm not clear. I want to retain the factory NAV unit. This means I am not replacing the NAV with a single DIN aftermarket system and ordering the Colt-speed trim piece.

Don't laugh at my pathetic excuse of a paintbrush representation, but this is something like what I want.

This is a modest representation of what I have in mind. Here is my $0.02

Someone with Adobe Photo shop should make us one, that would look much more real.

This is what I out together really quick

Yes, that is close to what I want. We have to keep in mind that there needs to be enough room between the nav unit and the dash chassis to allow the wires/vac line to run to the gauges. I refuse to drill holes in my dash or lay wires/lines on top. There has to be a way to get them routed through the nav opening and through the firewall.

Antics/Pdx or anyone else who's pulled the NAV out, is there room to run the wires/vac line between the NAV unit and dash chassis and into the engine compartment?

James
