Who has test drove the Evo X??

Just curious... how many people have test drove the Evo X? If you have, how did you actually do it. I was curious and went to a dealer in my area the other weekend they said that NO ONE tests drives these cars. They said that some people used to be able to test drive the evos when they first came out, but now NO ONE tests drives them.

I just wanted to hear other people's experiences.

Well, from what I've seen dealers are sticking pretty good to that no test drive policy

I just bought my x last week and wasn't able to test drive it before purchase. They said people don't want to buy them with more than 10 miles on the car. I personally think they don't want people to beat on them.

haha my first test drive was purely a joy ride. I had my car in for service and i figured what the hell lets see if they will let me drive it. Sales guy was really cool and basically let me go crazy. I had so much fun i ended up buying it.

I walked up and said, "I want to test drive that". And then I did.

I guess it depends on the dealership.

I took my daughter to Mitsubishi to buy an 08 lancer es.Same dealer i bought my 03 Evo from and where she bought her 06 lancer from.I asked the salesman about a test drive in a X w/aero pack, sss, silver beauty. He said they arent letting anyone test drive the X.s.I said you expect someone to spend 38k on a car without test driving one? His response was they didnt want to put any miles on them etc.,etc. So i spoke to the manger and told him this is the third car i,m buying from you.My Evo and my daughters second Lancer. So he gave in and even let me take it out by myself and told me to take my time and have fun.Long story short,i did have fun.My impressions are its a sweet ride, but i would take my 06 BR350 IX over it anyday of the week. Not putting the X down at all.But i felt a little disconnected from the car in feel, feedback compared to the IX.Just my opinion.

I rolled up in my 03 VIII and a rally red GSR X was sitting out front. I drooled over it for a bit before a salesman approached. I asked if I could test drive it and he said sure, took my license and came back with the key and a license plate. Totally painless - it definitely depends on the dealer.

I test drove this one ww x base model twice at the same dealer. I put on my 'goin to court clothes' and walked up with my brief case looking semi-important . After some conversation and bs they said no problem. The car had 5 miles on it. It now has 45 miles....my miles.

I called the sales guy up a few days later and said not to let anyone else test drive that particular car since I was definitely going to buy it...which I plan to do in the near future (by march 1st). He said no sweat and that most people are taking out the 'loaded' versions anyway. I'm sure they will have to cut back on the test drives sooner than later as they have 7of the 8 EVO X's they started with. The test miles will pile up before long if they keep taking the same cars out. I did see them turn a couple of younger guys down flat

and to the person above who said it had a 'real hard clutch' I say what? compared to which car? Compared to all the Subarus I've owned it's a joke...really easy.

I am 19 and they had no objection to me test driving, but then again, I am looking to buy one in a few weeks.

My dad test drove on in Shreveport and the guy tried to get him to keep it overnight. Too bad I live a few hours away or I would have told him to keep it and I'd be there shortly. Seems weird that my dad is thinking about getting one, but he's liked my 03 since I bought it. I'm telling him to go for it!

I have been to the local dealership three times trying to drive a new X. The last time I even rolled up in my GTO. Still no luck.

Strangely enough the cars are getting miles on them, but when I called out the salesman they said it is from "getting gas" WTF.

They want all of the paperwork to be filled out pending a signature that depends on the test drive.

I'm going to have to try another dealership. The one that I go to for parts all the time won't budge. I heard the same bs as a lot of you.
