i dont own an evo X but i just picked up the new dsport and was flipping through and the test and tune this month is of the new evo
they gained 36whp for $650 figured i would throw this info out there to anyone interested
all they did was put a drop in K+N
did an oil change using Royal Purple Synthetic Oil
and put on a 3" performance exhaust and voila

they replaced the stock oil with royal purple and they ahve dynos to prove it and i know dyno numbers can be taken with a grain of salt but its not like they are royal purple dyno-ing it they are a thrid party

i'm not a NASCAR fan, but i do know in the old days of qualifying engines that only needed to last a few laps, they would use really thin oil that would give them a lot less friction and significantly more horsepower. problem was it wouldn't protect the engine and it was garbage after a few laps, and that's why they now make them run the same engine the whole weekend. for this reason, i don't trust oils that actually raise horsepower, because the likely trade-off is longevity...
