No. It sounds like a worn out clutch. What car? Any mods? Stock clutch? Need more info. No vibration at any speeds. Shimmy in steering wheel? In seat of your paints?

See that's the problem, these damn old men drive cool cars instead of just dieing like they should!!! I mean anybody over the age of 32 needs to be sent to a retirement home (OK 35) - what can they offer but taking up space?

Seriously, my biggest concern is the perception people will have of me driving a kid's car. Do you use this car to go to restaurants, evenings out&c? My quandry is, short of a GT3RS which I just can't afford now no car fits how I drive, track and instruct better. New BMWs just get fatter and slower (on track anyway) and Z-06 is OK but stupid Chevy dealers are the worst in the world and the car is,let's face it, neither engineered nor built very well.

In response to your thread, there is a similar situation occuring to a poster tstalon in driveline forum - suggest checking it out. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=337072

Questions

800 miles
never dumped clutch, very soft on it( break in)

hard exeleration only while moving no clutching. Only 4 or 5 times waiting for 1k before I'm any harder on it.

Feels like drive line vibration

Only worried about dealing with this problem before the dealer blames something on me. I threw a throttle body trouble code with 32miles on it and the service manager gave me the act about I was triyng to modify the car already.

I am really shocked a dealer is giving an older driver such a hassle.

Just tint the windows, no one will see you.

You're an enthusiast, why do you care what people think of you?

I'm pushing 40 and between my spouse and I, we have 2 S2000's, a Lotus Elise, a Boxster S, a 997 GT3 and my Evo 8. I can't wait to get the X.

The Evo is an enthusiast's car, that's why I love driving mine. 74K miles now Best "overall" car I've ever owned.

My guess on the clutch slip feel -- could just be turbo lag you're getting used to.

On the vibration, balance on one of the rear tires may be off. Discount Tire should be able to check the tire balance for you for free. I'd just drop by when they're not too busy. Problem solved, without dealer intervention!

Talking

for the vibration Check your tire pressure too. Mine used to vibrate at that speed too when the tire pressure was off. I had mine at Les Schwab and they fill up my tires to 45 psi way above what the door says to put it at. I put it back down to the recommended pressure and it drives a lot better.

But you still have the Porsches so the valets and diners/women don't laugh at you going to the jazz club or restaurant.

How is the S2000 compared to your Evo - it seems "more mature" so maybe I won't get laughed at as much....

Please explain the clutch slipping. When a clutch slips in an Evo, its typically in higher gears. When you roll heavily into the throttle, the RPM will jump, like you are in neutral and free revving the car. Within a second or less, the car will "catch", when it goes back down and accelerate.

If your car is doing this, it definitely needs to go back to the dealership for inspection. Good luck.

slipping

Thats what it does typically in 3rd and 4th when the boost builds you can feel it let go a little, my 993 Turbo S (my oversteer track car) does the same thing but it is spinning tires.

This car feels like toooooo much traction for the driveline to handle.
