I really enjoy EvoM, and my main aim here is to contribute to the community.
That said, I feel compelled to comment on something that has been a major thorn in my side during my stint here as a moderator: Evo VIII and IX people who come over here to tell the X owners their car is a piece of crap in your eyes. Its gotten beyond old, and as a staff member, not only do I have to sift through it, I have to clean it up several times a day.
Moderating can be a thankless job, because people that you are forced to moderate think you are a jerk or a killjoy.
Posts that I find especially annoying are ones like this:
Now, I'm sure you might not be surprised to know, that the IX was not even a part of the thread topic. It was a writeup of the X MR and another brand car completely, but that does not stop some VIII and IX owners just blasting the X forums with hate.
Don't doubt for a moment that VIII/IX vs. X is a hot topic around here. But it needs to stay contained in one place and not pop up in every_single_freaking_thread on this forum. The place to have this discussion is right here: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=322869 Its currently a 61 page thread stickied at the top of this forum.
In the past, I have just deleted this junk and/or moved it to trash threads. But like most all of you, I have a job, a life, and I don't think moderating the exact same thing over and over is productive. Granted, as a mod, that always happens to some extent, but the degree of VIII and IX people that want to come in here and tell us our car is crap is going to stop.
To the X members reading this, I ask you to take the high road when you see this stuff in threads and not engage the other poster. Just click the "report post" triangle icon on the bottom left corner of their post and type a quick message to me so I can investigate.
The action we are taking now is one free warning for zero points about flaming or off topic, depending whatever is applicable. Repeat offenders will receive 5 point infractions after the friendly warning which add up toward automatic banning.
In the words of one Rodney King, "People, I just want to say, you know, can we all get along?" It sounds silly to apply something serious like that to a car forum, but please think before you post. I'm not asking you to like the X if you don't, but resist the urge to compare it to the IX or VIII in a thread where its not necessary to do so.
In the end, we are all Evo and Lancer owners. We need to support each other in spite of differences.

NEW EVOS ARE JUNK! 3680 pounds?!?!?! 1/4 mile in 13.8 ? thats not evolution. thats extinction.
Prices are WAY WAY to high, performance is getting worse, and they are not putting the added price into the interior. cheaper looking than a IX and the boxy aero kit is a joke.
