service engine soon light
ok so i bought my car 5 cars ago and as i drove off the lot the SES light came on and they told me it was just the gas cap (salesman told me this) so i reset it and it came back monday morning and i took it in and they said its a timing code that the car got stuck in retarting itself and all they did was clear the code. so it came back on this morning and im going to take it in tomorrow to see what it is. the only thing iv gone to the car was put a blow off valve on it VTA one and plugged up the hole where it used to go into the intake. could this be the problem? i put the BOV on saturday. need some help

ya its a evo x. and the mechanic didnt tell me the code but on the paper he gave me it say timing code is system. he also told me that it has to do with something with the computer retarding the timing.
This sounds like an issue a few people are having that havent done anything to their cars at all. I need to go find the code again, seemed to have lost it.
