Spray it with clear coat after you scrub it!

I'm going to try something after work,Maybe just gray primer or something after I clean it. I'm sure it will stink like hell for a few days, but anything to cover it up for looks. I guess with all of you guy's comment im less concern about it rusting through
but the looks still bother me.

Oooh, I wouldn't do that. Primer on an exhaust muffler would be a bad idea. Just use a metal polish to seal it and make it less porous, AFTER YOU CLEAN IT, not before!

If this happens to mine I plan to take it off, clean it off, and then grab a can of high heat paint (stuff they use on grills) from Home Depot and give it a quick coat.

To the original poster, I feel what you mean. A 40k car should still be built like a 40k car... If anything mitsubishi should have just spent another $500 to keep these little things from happening. I would've gladly paid a little extra to keep that from happening. Don't get me wrong I love my car but people have to face the facts about some of the flaws, big or small, instead of being such fanboys.

some silver dupli high temp paint would do well after a nice sanding. Either that or a nice SS exhaust would quickly take care of that problem!
