Just drove the new X!
I have read all the for and against comments on the X vs the IX,etc......I figured the best way to get to the bottom line was to drive one.
I went to Nashua Mitsu (NH) on Wednesaday, brought my IX MR with me and asked them to appraise mine and let me go for a ride in a new one. They let me take a black GSR....only for 11 miles though.....with a terrified salesman in the front seat....that was kinda fun actually.......
I love my IX, but I could easily see me driving and X as well......yes it is not as fast in stock form, but man did it handle great......drop the X about an 1" all around + a couple of bolt ons (Cat back, filter, oil) and it looks like they are extracting some serious power out of the 4B11.....
Believe me...I love my IX......but the X is a winner for sure....next year this time there will be so many aftermarket parts that every X owner will be smiling from ear to ear every time they tromp it!
....so screw the idea of selling the IX for the X.......I want both! (Apex Silver please)
The X I drove did not have the areo package - I thought that looked good.....the sticker price is going to be the killer for this car $38,200 for the GSR is some big $$$ for a Mitsu......and that's not an MR!
I can't wait to see what the X Ralliart brings us....I think this car will be a hit too.
So yes, the next gen X is bigger, heavier, more refined and more costly than the previous models - just like every succesor to the previous model.
IMHO - the X is awesome - I would love to own one.....maybe some day.....so congrats to all you X owners - you have a beast of a car that will ***** slap just about anything out there! And to all us IX and earlier owners....our cars rock too -with just a bit less refinement. Either way - its all good!
Keep it going mitsu.....bring us an RS asap too!

Great, unbiased review. I think that both cars are awesome too, and if I could own a 9 and a X I would be all for it. I can only afford one car, so I had to pick which one I liked better, and for me it was the X. I tell you what I really wish I had was an EVO 6 tommi mackinen edition sitting next to my X. That'a the best evo ever made from what I've heard and read. SUPER-RAW!, but you can't get them here in the states.
Oh well, let us know if you end up getting a X!
