since when did sti's rev to 8k? maybe japanese versions i thought ours rev'ed to 7k.

Japanese spec 2.0 liter AKA EJ207. Lots cooler than our goofy 2.5 that can't rev to 7k, eh?

thats what i thought also, untill yesterday I went to go see one in the dealership with a friend, they all redline @ 8k.

the evo x sst, also had 2nd fastest lap, just didnt do good all the laps ;p

That is not correct. The tach might go to 8000, but the 2008 STI redlines at 6700rpm. This is well documented. The older US STIs went to 7000rpm. Our larger displacement EJ257 will not spin to 8k stock.

I was thinking of picking up a new STI cuz they looked kinda nice and they had a little more room for my work uses. Man after seeing a new one on the street the front of that car just makes me want to puke! I'm just sitting back in the shadows for a 5spd ralliart.

If you look at the power band on their dyno's they all peak around 5500RPM and fall drastically...

Then I take that back, I was misinformed. I dont know much about subaru, but the "Salesman" (go figure) told me they redline @ 8k!!

You need to go back and tell them its not an Evo.
