Any previous STi drivers/road course use?
How many of you guys are previous STi owners? I currently own a basically stock 07 STi and am in the process of prepping it for sale in order to get a WW X. I had a big turbo, fmic, upgraded tranny, etc 06 WRX before my STi and it drove pretty nicely on the street and on the road course, although it had a lot of understeer. The STi disappointed me, the 6mt gear ratios suck even though Subaru updated the 6mt for 07. Many hills around my area are simply too much for 3rd gear and 2nd sits at about 4.5k or more. I am glad to hear the EVO X has a 5 speed that people appear to be liking (although the STi 6mt has its followers). But the STi is a very mechanical car, no stability control or anything like that. I'm very worried of the EVO X's stability control being an unfair advantage if I do break into novice class road racing next season like I plan. The WRX taught me to drive correctly, I don't want the EVO cleaning up sections that would normally be dirty just because of S-AWC.
Have you guys been doing road racing with these? I notice that with coilovers you are doing shock dyno's so that they don't **** off the S-AWC, what brands work well? This is just a very futuristic system to me.
I have almost every part to run 350whp and maybe 400wtq on my STi, but I want something different and I want to know that if I properly set up this car I will be more competitive than the previous STi's with the same power.
I know this was a pretty jumbled post, but thanks for any input.

the evo x will handle better than any 04-08 sti period. The evo's stability control can be completely turned off. Obviously you will probably have an advantage driving the evo over the sti because when the evo reaches it's limit it will oversteer
never tracked my 06 STi when i had it. the lack of feedback just wasn't confidence inspiring for me personally to take it to the track. I knew it was capable, but just never had the desire to do so. I also already have a 240sx and an eg civic that i use for track and autoX duty. I do regret never taking it to at least an autoX though.
When I traded it in for the evo x, I couldn't resist taking it out to the track, the very next weekend i got it. The car is really well setup from the factory. great grip, very little understeer, good tires, no brake fade, no overheating, etc. aside from lowering the hot tire temps to 32 psi all-around, I didn't change a thing. Not sure about anyone else, but I prefer to learn to drive the car stock before making any actual adjustments to the suspension.
