I'd say if you dont want a car thats been touched thenjust get a different one, but do t expect them to discount the car much. If they dont sell it to you they will just sell it to the next joe who walks in the dealership and doesn't know it was a show car. Its not like the DMV brands "show-car" on the title. Just my 2 cents good luck on your purchase

^I am pretty sure they make you sign a waiver from the manufactor stating that you know it was a show car.

Well, everything is still looking good on getting an Evo X. I checked with my insurance today, and it will barely budge, so that's nice. I found SouthCoast's thread on here with prices, and it's insane! I can't believe they are selling them for those prices. Pretty much confirms I'm getting one, whether this sale works or not. If it falls through, I'll just sell my Speed 3 cheap, order from SouthCoast, and have a good life again. I mean, base GSR for $29,999.....how can I resist?? I'll keep you guys updated, but may have a few more questions before I go Monday. Until then, not stop researching........

That car was locked from day one. Went to the auto show the first Saturday and it was locked. I asked if they did that on purpose and they said yes. I didn't know why they would lock a $35k car when they got BMW's right next to them for more than double the price unlocked.

You'd be suprised. I couldn't get into a couple of the volvos, I think even one of the Civics at the Philadelphia International Auto Show. They told me that the cars were going to other shows so they wouldn't let anybody into them.

LMFAO on the way back from the dealer. They didn't have a sticker on it yet, so we just started talking. It only had 5 miles on it....good. One tiny scratch on the bumper...no problem. Driver's seat was already falling apart with the staple thing...no biggie. So after looking it over, we started it up and they pulled it into the garage for me to look over. It looked good, so I asked them what they want for it. Their answer: $43,399. I went straight to my car, and handed them the Southcoast quote. They told me that was "impossible". So, I gave them my card and just said call me when you actually want to sell the car. To make things worse, they don't even have an Evo certified mechanic. They didn't even want the Evo, but had to buy it b/c they bought 5 other cars from the show. They know absolutely nothing about the car, so I left a message with the GM and said if he came close to matching Southcoast, I'll take it from them, and they'll never see it again b/c I will void the warranty first month.

On a positive note, I had detailed my Speed 3 anticipating a trade-in. I'm sorry, but my interior is so much better. Plus, it's a super sleeper. It felt good driving home, throwing it in 6th gear, and getting 30+mpg on my trip computer. Conclusion: I want an Evo X, but just sitting in one did nothing for me. It actually made me lose interest. So, for now I'm keeping my Speed 3 until I ride in a modded X. I'm sure that will bring the interest back. Until then, no for me.

Sorry about the dealer attitude, have you considered an EVO IX?

Nah...I've already owned an VIII and loved it. That would feel like a step backwards honestly. I'm sure I'll still get a X one day, it's just the urgency is not there as much now. If I lived near Southcoast, things would be different. I might throw the Speed up for sale, and see if I can get what I want for it. Still, not that excited about the X anymore. I'm gonna keep my options open, but cars like the 135i are looking more desirable to me now. What to do??!

Update: Wow!...The dealer let me borrow this brand new Evo X for 24 hours!!! I drove 78 miles today for free. It's sitting in my driveway right now, next to my Speed 3. Took 3 hours today, but talked them down to 33k flat, 18k for the Speed, and we're close to a deal. I told them I'd call them tomorrow, but the new GM insisted I test drive it. So I did, like 15 miles, and came back to tell them I need to think about it. He said take it home for the night! So, that's what I did. I can definately see the potential, but have some questions.

1. I notice the power drop off after 5k or so. So the reflashes fix this completely?
2. The staples are still sticking out of the seats. Any easy, quick fix for that?
3. 2nd and 3rd gear grinding......has fluid changes or anything helped?
4. The car went perfectly straight, but the steering wheel is a bit crooked. Alignment needed new?
5. The clutch felt real wierd, but I got used to it. Is this clutch bad once modded lightly?
6. Any other issues I need to address before taking delivery? They know nothing about Evo's.

Sorry for all the questions, but I have to return it tomorrow, and get ready to make a deal. Also, under closer inspection, the wing needs buffed / waxed (scratches), and one wheel has about 1 inch curb rash. It had 6 miles on it when I drove off. Who curbs a wheel in 6 miles??? Any suggestions greatly appreciated....thanks. Want to buy this thing tomorrow.

1. There is a factory reflash out for the X make sure they give it to you. The TSB number is posted all over the forms ( I think it is a sticky). But ecuTEK would be the way to go.
2. Not sure, My Evo X dosen't show staples.
3. You will get use to it lol. No fluid change that i no of.
4. Well seeing that it has a wheel curb hit, that most likely messed up the aligment, make the dealer fixes that for you and try to get a new rim out of it.
5. My clutch went out at 5,000 miles, it is NOT modd friendly but thats what the ACT is for lol I love the ACT clutch.
6. MMMMM, well if you are in to modding cars and you can read from other post this is the car to do it. This car is getting stupid awhp for next to nothing. All bolt ons, modded turbo, tune, and slicks and the people in PR ran a 10.9. Look at my modd list i am almost there lol. It will me done next month.

But make sure you get the X, its an awesome car you wont regret it.

33k and 18k are actually pretty good numbers. First you figure msrp for your car is under 23k. Second the invoice on that evo is around 33k. The reason south coast mitsu can sell the gsr's 1k under invoice is because they buy so many. They are the largest mitsu dealership in the US. Unfortunately 90% of other dealerships pay invoice, and they usually get around a $500 dollar holdback. This is to help cover Prep costs, interest on the car(as they don't actually own the car) etc..

So you sir are getting a very good deal at 33k/18k..

On the other hand, It's been almost two months and they obviously are struggling to sell their Evo's, if they are this desperate I think you can get a better price, not much. Maybe try and go for some extras, like oil changes for a year, or crap like that.
