Worried about my X

especially the transmission. I have almost 600 miles on her now and its still doing the same thing...the jerky-ness, sometimes its just violent. Im talking about the 1-2 shift. Im taking her in for an oil change soon so i just want to know, should i have them take a look at it? of course their going to say there's nothing wrong and that its normal. But when the car jerks back and fourth it gets to me, its like whiplash. It doesnt happen all the time. i say 50% of the time. Ive tried shifting high/low RPM still the same thing, feels like the clutch just slam together violently. I know maybe in the long run itll be bad, transmission might just fall off from under me. Maybe im shifting the car all wrong. advise? EvoX owners who have had their cars for awhile, does it go away? maybe after 1k,2k,20k?

Just get the car checked out now while it's under warrantee. From what you make it sound like, that's not normal and don't let them tell you it is! Do it NOW!

yeah i got the reflash. dont have any other problems besides this. And about taking it in to get something fix, from what ive read some dealers are new to the X, probably wont even touch it. i just dont want to be car-less. this is my only transportation.

It might be driver error, these cars are not the smoothest or easiest to drive. The clutch is much different from typical cars.

If the clutch was not broken in properly, that could be an issue as well.

It cant hurt to have the dealer look at it, better yet see if you can find another Evo owner to drive it for a bit and see what they think.

Im not trying to offend by the way, but trust me there are many people on these boards who have similar issues.

When the car jerks, is this happening while your foot is pressed on the clutch? Try putting more gas to it and see what happens, from what it sounds it might be your driving.

My guess is that it's just the hesitation issue from running too rich. Most people with the reflash see marked improvement, I know that I did. Some people do not get results as noticeable, but my suspicion is that the people who don't see any improvment had te flash done by someone who didn't know what he was doing and the process wasn't done correctly.

That's my only guess, however I will say this; even though the reflash leans things out a little bit, it's still pig rich and the WORKS drop in filter works miracles. The best thing is going to get a custom dyno tuned flash with ecutek though. You'll gain a **** load of power and the car will drive like a champ, but if you're worried about the warranty or don't want to spend the money get the WORKS filter if nothing else.

Mine does the same thing, it's not driver error or not being broken in properly, it's a picky clutch that's difficult to drive. My only guess outside of this is clutch glaze, however it's not all the time, so that pretty much leaves me with a bunch of ??? I notice when I hesitate to release the clutch from 1 to 2 it's not as bad, nor is it when I have the revs a whole lot higher. I'm defiantly going to tell my dealer but I really do think this is the nature of the car???

A lot of these problems are gone for me. I know drive the car smoothly and it runs good. Mine jerked like crazy but that was my early lame shifting.

these cars are really picky about your foot work. my VIII is rough sometimes if im not paying attention to it. you just gotta practice and be easy on it. it doesnt like being shifted hard

it's sounds like driver error to me...you have to be precise with you clutch foot if you want the transition to be smooth...and you have the feather the release of the clutch too...I had the same problem when I started driving a stick for the first time with my IX

I let my GF drive the X last night and it felt like I was getting slammed in the back of the head every shift. She never has been much of one for finesse in footwork with cars. She drives her M3 the same way. When I drive it, at a casual level, I can make damn near seamless shifts thru all gears but 2nd. I'm also yet to drive a car where you can get into 2nd almost unnoticed. Thats just the drastic difference you hit from 1st to 2nd.

I also think it's has to do with gearing as well, which I truly think our 5 spEeds have the best ratios I've ever felt! ALWAYS PLENTY OF POWER NO MATTER WHAT GEAR YOUR IN.
