Attn Mitsubishi! Please offer The MR Edition With The 5 Speed!!!
Mitsubishi would be foolish not to offer the MR edition with their bulletproof 5 speed transmission. At 23 y/o, I purchased an Evo in 2003 and loved every minute, still miss it to this day(driving a 3.5 Altima 6 speed). I have since then matured, along with my salary, much like the evo. I would love to get back into one, but would also like everything the MR has to offer, such as extra sound deadening, the gorgeous BBS rims and the incredible brakes, with the exception of the auto manual. I do plan to mod,(hence the need for the stronger transmission),and have the $$$ to afford the this high priced Mitsu but I would like the refinement of the MR. By not offering the MR with a 5 speed, Mitsubishi is loosing customers like me and I feel they have designed the new X for individuals like myself. If anyone from Mitsubishi is listening, PLEASE OFFER THE MR WITHOUT THE AUTO MANUAL. People with $$ like to have options. Just look at BMW/MERC. They cater to their clientele, offering many options, and seem to be doing very well.

Uhm... I would really wait, we really don't know how realiable the MR transmission is compare to the 5 speed. It still need to be tested with a lot of mods to see what capacity van handle.
There are tons of other cars in the market very sucessfull with other similar systems (GTR, VW GTIs).

A 6 speed would be sick too. The GSR is nice, but I want the king now that I can afford it. The MR is the platform I would like to start with, minus the trans. After 3 years with the evo, I was over the extreme drone so I think I would like to opt against it. GSR rims are sweet, just more attracted to the MR's. Dynamat, sounds interesting but I already have a ton of other mods in mind: D.P, HF Cat, Cat Back, FMIC, U/LICP, Intake, Tune. Those would probably max out the SST.
Umm...most of us who have matured to the point where we aren't maxing our budget to buy a DD car don't want to have to mod the car. That should be the MR target. BMW does not offer the manual option on the M3 because of modding potential, it's because a lot of the old guys who buy them can't come to grips with technology and thus demand a manual.
Modding a car is like building a computer, why buy mediocre parts and overclock the crap out of them when you can just buy nicer stuff and have it run just as fast at factory specs, with less heat and a warranty? Unless you're building a race car, in which case start with the base model.
The only thing Mitsu needs to do to the MR is add a hundred hp or so from the factory.

Mitsu is gonna come out with a 6 spd in the future. They usually have to upgrade every year. Their just saving all the SE packages for future sales market ( prolly a 6 speed gsr and equipment from the MR) < this is all speculation though.
5 speed?, 5 speed?
NO, thanks.
This is 2008. We need a strong manual 6 or WHY NOT a super overdrive 7 speed manual for gas mileage, high speed, highway work.
This IS the Lancer EVOLUTION. We should see some evolving of the manual trans also.

So your thread is to complain about Mitsu not having the Manual in the MR "Mitsubishi would be foolish not to offer the MR edition with their bulletproof 5 speed transmission" or you want to brag that you have money "I do plan to mod,(hence the need for the stronger transmission),and have the $$$ to afford the this high priced Mitsu. People with $$ like to have options"?
I think people with $$$, like you should buy a BMW or Benz so that you can show the world that you have $$$.
Leave the Evo X MR with it's manualmatic transmission to us enthusiast who appreciate advance technology.

and yeah if you want to look rich and all that bmw, merc, porsche, after all they do cost about twice as much for a GOOD car. the truth is most people do not know about cars and they only know brand names...to them bmw, merc., and porsches are the best/fastest cars. AND TRUST ME...THERE IS ALWAYS SOMEONE WHO HAS A BETTER/FASTER CAR....just do what makes you happy... some guy in a boxster the other day reving his engine at a stop light...and i just laughed at him. you should of seen that guy's face when he realized he could not catch up to me.
p.s. the mr only cost a few grand more...im sure those with the evo x's could afford an mr if they really wanted to
