You dont need all that to get there.
You can get 400whp with race gas and cams, no need for intercooler,or whatever a tgv is and the other stuff. Now if you want 400whp on pump then yes you need the Fp and cams and full exhaust and injectors but thats all. You dont have to havee the other crap you listed. Do you own an Evo?
He meant to get 400whp on a sti, I think.

Yeah man, dump the sti and go evo x or xi(2009?). Screw that pumped up forester engine they give the US. If they had put in that sweet revving 2.0l from the jdm market, I would consider keeping the sti.

yeah definatly i would have kept it if they have a 2.0 in it, makes just as much power and revs to 8k, but we dont.

basically this is what happened, ive maxed out all the basic mods i can on my car, or almost that is, and i raced a modded evo 9 mr(injectors, intercooler and pipes, tune.. and so on, no new turbo, meth, nitrous nothing) it also has a 5 speed shep trans in it. it demolished me.... not even close. thats what i want. im headed towards the dark side.....

Exact situation I was in. Had an 06 STI and took a really good look at the X.

You'll love the X because:
a) It's a new car
b) The sound system is pretty damn good if you buy the SSL package (or whatever)
c) The handling is OUT OF THIS WORLD; honestly it should be illegal to sell a car that handles this well
d) You'll be even more unique on the road

You'll hate the X because:
a) Even with the reflash, the motor issues are hit and miss.
b) You'll have to adjust your driving style from the STI. There's a necessary pause between the 1st and 2nd gear shift to make driving bearable. The STI gearbox is much more forgiving and spirited shifting in normal neighborhoods is easier on the Subaru.
c) You'll need earplugs once you hit the high RPMs especially without a 6th gear
d) If your gears start grinding, the doubt in your mind grows with every shift

It's a great car, even better than the previous Evo as far as a total package. But it remains a great car that is better suited for tracking purposes rather than a daily driver.

i like the sti and i like the new hatches, but i want to get away from the subaru's and try out the mitsu.

i dotn feel like dumping 6 grand into a sti and make 400 hp when i can dump probably half of that into a evo and get the same output. help me out here.

I guess I should give you my opinion, since I traded in an 06 STi for an X. Trust me you wont regret the trade. In terms of all around performance, I feel its a step up in every aspect. It takes some getting used to the powerband. Going from a 2.5l to a 2.0, changes the cars attitude completely. The STi has that big surge of power in the midrange then tapers off to redline. The evo has a strong progressive pull up to about 5k then a bust to redline. Driven right, I believe my evo would take my STi stock on the highway. From a stop, I give the nod to the STi. However, the handling is world class.

The handling and suspension feel leaps and bounds ahead of the suby's. I can't stress enough how easy it is to drive this car fast, and under control. This car can be a griping monster or like a rear-wheel drive drift car. It's amazing! Overall, the entire experience of driving the car is just more pleasurable than the STi. It's the combination of the seats, handling, ride height, etc...It all just makes driving the car something special. If I had to pick one thing I miss about the suby, it would be the sound. Nothing sounds better than that boxer engine.

Anyways, I hope that helps in your decision. I can guarantee you won't be disappointed with the trade. But in the end you win either way. You either get a new X and love it, or continue to drive that bad *** suby.

He's looking for an STI with mods I do know that, even though I tried to steer him clear of mods... he's all about eating one of our friends SRT-4. P.M. with a ball park figure and I'll get in touch with him a.s.a.p.
