EVO X throwdown...AMS, Buschur, DRAG...pics

This past weekend was the Winged Warrior charity event for Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis. This was my 1st WW and I was pretty excited to find out that AMS and Buschur were both bringing their new cars. I was in B class and they were in A class and I tried to switch so we could all go head to head, but I was too late and my number had already been assigned. It is greatly appreciated that guys like that come out and not only participate, but sponsor an event that benefits something that isn't even located in their home state.

There were three EVO Xs there, and they made a hell of a showing. Overall times were very quick all things considered. Hopefully those guys chip in with their results. I know Dave posted his, but I didn't see what the AMS car ran in the 1/4.

1/4 mile: The drag racing was interesting. You basically got 3 time trials then lined up with whoever you got lined up with for eliminations. It was more for fun than anything. I managed to squeeze out a couple 13.24s @ 103.5mph. My only mod is a Greddy catback exhaust. I'm going back this week for 12.9999999...which I am confident I will be able to achieve. In my 05 VIII I ran 12.9 @ 102 with a turboback + a clutch (which helped a ton), and this car is pulling harder up top for sure. Guys saying this car is slow compared to the old ones just don't know....my opinion is that it is more powerful and just as quick. I'm no spectacular driver and I weigh 260lbs. My car is 3800+ lbs with me in it.

First round I lined up with an EVO 8 that was running 12.5s @ 113...he said his best ever was an 11.9. Sweet...I'm going out first round. Well...he redlit and I move on 13.3 to his 13.1. Second round I line up with the Buschur WRX...again...now the quickest car of the group (I think running 12.8s). I nailed him on the tree and ran a 13.25 to his 13.0. I got into the finals on a bye and red lit against an STI....13.249 to his 13.245

I think DB ran 12.6s @ 109 (correct me if I'm wrong). Not sure what AMS ran.

Auto X: This was a lot of fun. Some interesting tibits...
-Fast time of the day was set by an EVO....nice job EVOlutionary
-Fastest time on street tires was set by Todd James in his EVO 8.
-2 EVOs were faster on street tires than ANY Scooby-Doo on slicks ...including my X. I was one of 2 cars on street tires to get under the 1 minute mark with a 59.52. This car is outstanding and I look forward to more mods and more seat time. I think BR and AMS were in the 61.xx range...which was fast compared to a lot of the other EVOs and STIs there. I saw DB run a 60.3 but I think they got him for a cone or something because I didn't see it on the results.

Overall...the Xs were REAL fast compared to other AWD cars there.

I hope you enjoy these pics....

AMS

Buschur

DRAG

And now she rests until next weekend.....

EVOlutionary making us proud....that car is hooked up!!

Todd James setting the street tire FTD. I didn't get a chance to talk to Todd, but from what I could see it looks like a pretty well prepared STU car with the exception of no cat...Motons, good tires, 9.5 wheel, and some pretty good driving. Nice wheel work!!

Nice! Thanks for the pics and the chat!

My favorite picture is the third one. I keep hearing a "thunk" in my head every time I look at it...

Glad to hear that you're enjoying the X.

a little OT, but I'm digging the drag car, drag.

Looked like a fun event, I wish there was cool stuff like that around me, remotely.

Looks like a great time, I can't wait to compete in something like this! Thanks for posting the info.

BTW, no broken gas pedal arms over the weekend? :-D

Glad you came Drag! This is a really fun event for a great cause.

AMS and DB looked great out there in the X's. Those DO move with some work in them - thats for sure.

I was the just behind with 62.x.

EVOlutionary and Todd both ran great. Todds car is Dave H's old car. Very well prepped for STU (think nationals )

They sure don't need much to be fast around some cones. I am really enjoying this car and was happy to break 1 minute. I wish I had run the other 3 runs without passengers...I think I could have nailed down some 58s no problem with the extra concentration.
