Well, the article he was referring to also tested motor oil and found an incredible gain. I find this very relevant to the thread, Noize. One outrageous claim I beleive, but two??? K & N and Royal Purple paid the most money to D Sport this month.

Sorry that I don't believe your claims of flowing just as well as a K&N yet filtering 50x better. K&N filters perform very well and have been proven to filter fine in tests/comparisons. If you want to step up to something a bit better than a K&N filter check out AFE. AFE was started by an ex-K&N employee who was able to improve a few minor things over K&N.
I will talk about AMSOIL all I want... Not asking anyone or making any posts to buy it from me...

It is the best on the market.

Those are not MY Claims..... Go to Donaldson.com and search around... they had the testing done when the filters were designed for the M1 Tanks in Desert Storm.

When a wetted gauze filter is oiled so it flows well, it does not do a good job of filtering... If it is oiled to where it filters better, it does not flow..

Frankly, after doing this for over 36 years, I am not really worried about what you believe... I owned a filter test machine and I've tested them and have seen the results myself...

this thread about K&N . Leave the BS oil and "sending" debate for an other tread. Made one for yourself. Specially when you try to advertising over the K&N and bashing it.
The K&N drop in is a good mod for the previous evo's. And that is hard fact.
The Typhoon had a little "tongue" inside the induction tube. When you removed it it was very very good set up. The fact is, it made a good amount of whp, but was hard to tune if you dont remove that "tongue". It was a design problem and nothing to do with the cone filter on it.
Also most guys who complained about the Typhoon they did not even tuned the car after install. So in those circumstances the best whp maker the HKS RS is also a bad intake. Because they did flow that well, made the ecu to going crazy.

So yes if the Works claims they drop in makes 27 hp and 13 tq and also wet filter, then the K&N 14.8 hp sounds really realistic.

Never said K&N didn't increase HP.... Never "Bashed" it.. Just laid out some facts.... Facts that can be found at Donaldson.com.... And various other websites that have had tests performed...

They are a racing filter for people with High $$ Budgets that don't worry about sanding an engine.. They are also a good Marine Filter and make filters for another company that has one of the top names in filtration... That company prints right on their box.. "For Marine Use Only"... Why ?? Because there is no dirt out there...

next time i'm in iraq, ill make sure to get an AMSOIL filter to plug on mah X.

i had a K&N on my eclipse, no problems. not much of an hp gain because, well lets face it, the eclipse isnt an evo, but still it was a fine filter, and the 14-15hp gain is probably correct based on the dyno charts that have been provided with just adding a drop in or a cone filter.

The point is, if it can handle the Extreme Conditions there, it will handle anything you can find here.

Most of the people here are not with unlimited budgets like a Sponsored Race team. And, as matter of fact, the new AMSOIL EA Air Filters are being used in many Pro Racing sports and, being tested in others... Why ? Superior air cleansing and Superior Flow.... Not to mention at a lower cost, cleaning without chemicals and not having to worry about the mess or re-oiling after you had to run a different filter for a few days while that one is drying.. That is, if you do it properly...

I used to have the AFE Pro-Guard 7 filter media in my old diesel truck and ran that with good results. For those applications, I'd almost rather switch to paper give up 5 hp to be absolutely sure of filtration off road, but in a street car, I like the idea of an improved filter media that is close to paper filtration efficiency.

Maybe you'd drop 2 hp out of 14 over a classic k&n hi-flo gauze media, but I really would rather my engine and turbo last for 10 years if at all possible.

But that is the whole thing... With the EA Filter, you lose nothing... It flows as well as a wetted gauze and filters better..

With this Patented Nano-Fiber Technology, it is a Win-Win Plus Situation.

Oil Doc, this is a tad OT, but do they make one of these nanofilters for the IX? All I saw on their website is the Wix.

Same filter as all EVO's EAO-46 $13.15

Although the site does list a 13 for a couple years, it is incorrect. I just received a confirmation email about correcting that and I will see if I can get them to add in the later models as well... the company they purchasae that info from has not updated yet.
