Some Evo 8/9/10 times on same course. You couldn't go wrong with either is my 2c's.

something to consider - chronohunter, robi, and martin of AMS have all said flat out that the CZ4A is a better chassis. martin of AMS said outright that the evo 10 is more fun.

someone that i personally trust (who has been killing em' dead in NASA TTR) expects that the evo 10 will beat the GT-R around a road course, given a reasonable amount of development. not totally crazy, IMO, as i'm sure you've already seen that the evo X has done quite well in the recent edmund's test, all while being the slowest in outright speed and the longest to stop.
if you're wondering whether you'll go wrong with the X, i think that has already been answered many times over. whether you'll go wrong in giving an evo 9 its walking papers, well that's obviously the tough part. this article may help you make the decision - http://driving.timesonline.co.uk/tol...cle3812271.ece
people buy evos to trash guys in more expensive, supposedly more capable cars (at least track guys do, or people like me that aren't ballin outta control). i think that the X has more potential to do that more than the 9. maybe not today, but come one year from now after smart people fit bigger wheels in the stock turbo housing, people start putting v2.0 of coilovers after this track season's data, and the tuners start really getting ECU controlled boost/ dual-MIVEC/ OpenECU dialed in, it's gonna be bananas. look at Noise's car - ECUtek existed for 2 months, tops, and was able to produce what took the Mivec 4G63 over a year to develop.
ask blacktrack, who ran with stock power but wasn't blown out of the water when running against an STi with likely 50% more power to the wheels at the St. Louis Redline TA. i wouldn't mention it if it were a one-off story, but this is something that has been corraborated by more than one forum guru, magazine, and end user.
BTW, i still love my evo 9. my recent track days showed me that it's still way more car than i am driver (i've got data acquisition to back that up).

if you didnt have the 9 already and were choosing i would say the X. but why change unless u have the xtra cash to blow and want the new style. on top of that u sound like a newbie to the auto x and track(no offense) i am too and you the driver are no where near pushing the 9 to its max....
CleverUserName's post above has some really good info.
This topic comes up once about every two weeks, sometimes more. Once they are fleshed out, I try to merge all of them into the stickied thread at the top of this forum that has over 1000 replies already. There is a lot of crap in there, but there is also a lot of great info. Through debate, good data can get fleshed out. I had a ton to say on this topic (having owned an VIII, IX, and X), but I think I've said most of it in the stickied thread above.
At the end of the day, I'd advise you to find a way to drive an X on a good road that you have taken your IX on. Spend some good time behind the wheel, and you'll know which one you like better. There are still thinks I like more about my old IX. But I like other things more about the X. For a handling car, the X gets top honors of the US Evos in my book. I've never driven an overseas VI, so I can't comment on those.

if you go to the serious track racing + you cant wait a year , then a IX.
The reason is really simple:
no proven after market support
no enough high performance parts
No enough suspension parts etc. for the X.
so for the next year or so i think for a serius race the IX will be a bette choice. Price is lower , the after market stuff is cheaper, the tune etc is cheaper and so on.
For a mild racer or weekend warrior the X hands down.

I am using my 9 for the track. The 10 is nice for a daily. I really like the 9 on the track and ive taken both cars on a track (although didnt really push the 10 as I have the 9). Im gonna turn the 9 into a track vehicle until the 11 comes out. Then its most likely out with the 9, unless the 10 hasnt been developed like the 9. If that makes sense.
