Mobil 1 Oil Confusion?

I've decided to put Mobil 1 in my new evo x, however, the owner's manual recommends 5W-30 and putting my model onto the Mobile 1 website recommends 10W-30? Anyone else think this is weird?

Also I plan on changing every 3000 miles, so should I use the extended performance, clean 5000, or standard synthetic? Thanks.

Standard synthetic. Also, owner's manual > oil website. But honestly, 10w-30 would be just fine for the warmer months, then run 5w30 in the winter.

Thanks. I had already purchased standard synthetic 5W-30 so I wasn't sure if I should return it. Anyone having problems finding mobil 1 oil filters for evo x? I can't find any near me. Should I just use K&N instead or is there another that's preferred?

It sounds like you might be changing it early just to go to Mobil 1 - do you realize that it has Mobil 1 in it from the factory?

I'd use the Mitsu oil filter.

Why don't people believe their owners manual?

Yeah, I know it has Mobile1 in it but I don't want to pay $80 for an oil change when I can do it myself for $30. I'll just go with K&N I guess. I only have 1000 miles on my car now but the local Advanced Auto had a special on Mobile 1 - 5 quarts and a filter for $26, so I got the oil now. That's such a steal.

Cool, I was just making sure. I change my own too, but go to the dealer and pick up a filter and new drain plug washer beforehand. That is a great deal on Mobil 1.

Ok, wasn't sure what the best filter would be so I may just go with a stock one. Anyone running K&N oil filters?

German Castrol 05W30 is currently on sale at AUTOZONE for 25$ w/ filter (I believe the sale is good till the end of June).

It's a real synthetic oil (group iv), unlike Mobil-1 (which is group 3 based, the EP might be a true synthetic).

Make sure it says "Made in Germany" on the back, says "European Formula" on the front, and the oil weight is 05W30. It has great UOA (used oil analysis).

One confusion about Mobil 1 is that it is spelled "mobile."

Website also says I need M1-104 oil filter and Advanced has it in stock, however, when I told the cashier my car make and model he said that Mobil didn't make a filter for my car, even though the M1-104 is in stock. Genius.

PS - It's Mobil 1 - not mobile. Misspelled it in the title, but not anywhere else sorry.
