I am adding some sound deading to the trunk and would like to put some behind the seats but I have had no luck getting them out.

I know, i was alway told 2 to chest and 1 to the head, and then their usually quite.

 

Actually recent studies have shown you can skip the two to the chest.

Usually when one is taken to the head they have a sudden burst of death, which sadly modern medicine has yet to find a cure for.

 

If my X MR was here yet I could tell you for sure. With my VIII there are two clips that you pull on on the underside of the rear seat. Pull on those and lift up. The back part of the seat is bolted down on the bottom and hangs on hooks on the top. Getting it back in on those hooks is a pain.

 

to remove the rear seats, give the bottom cushion a good tug upwards. Its anchored by friction clips on each end of the bench. Then the rear seatback is bolted down by 3 bolts... two on each corner and one in the middle.
