Just Priced The MR on Mitsubishi Site
<<Billy Madison voice>>
"Evo IX is bettah, it has a 4G63 and is more connected the driver."
"No, Evo X is bettah, it is nicer around town and is proving itself just as fast and mod-friendly"
"blah, blah, blah"
(5 pages later)
"Stop looking at me, Swan!!!"
Anyone else tired of this?

lack of topics for Evo X is the root clause , sorry to point that out =P
Werd. Well if anything else, at least Mitsu had the sense to make the X look a whole lot better than the new STI. I saw one today at a local walmart and it's is just butt f**kin' ugly. Lets face it, for both camps, the previous gen Evo and STI are still the best.

I don't know about you, but I'd rather have the Evo X with 20 or 30k of upgrades than a GTR. I've heard that owners of the GTR will have to sign a waiver/contract saying that they will not attempt to mod nor develop mods for the vehicle. I don't know if that's true, but if so, who wants a car that they can't mod. Even then, that thing is 600 pounds heavier than the evo. I think for rally, road course, auto x, uphill climb, etc. the evo has the advantage if you want to match investment prices.
I don't think it would be a contract but rather a disclaimer that if you modded the car, Nissan will not honor the factory warranty. But hey, if you can afford to buy a GTR in the first place, you should be able to pay for fixing it if it ever does break. As for the difference in weight, keep in mind that when R34 GTR came out, it was also heavier than the Evo 6 but still kicked it's *** (in most cases). The Evo and the GTR just aren't in the same performance bracket imo.
Just go here:

Offer the dealer Invoice. Be polite but firm. Maybe go $200 over. Walk away if they refuse. It's the laws of Supply and Demand. If people are willing to pay dealer markups, the price WILL go up.

Why? because they have upgraded the engine? added a modern transmission? Made it look like a car that should cost 30K+ instead of a modded out 20K car?
The older cars are great, so is the X. You guys don't like them...FINE WE GET IT WHY keep beating a dead horse?

Untrue. The root cause is trolling. X General is not moving that much slower with threads than 1-9 General is. And of course you have to expect it being somewhat slower since the car has been for sale in the USA for 5 months compared to 5 years+ for the CT9A. If we let the trolling run amuck, there'd be tons of threads filled with garbage with no real tech or useful information.
First off, its easy to stand on the sidelines and criticize the moderation of this site if you haven't walked a mile in our shoes and had to sweep up.
Second, you have your fingers plugged in your ears. The MR has been out for sale for only a few days. I was an early adopter on my VIII, and paid a lot more for it than I did my IX, which was a better car in every way. Just like its CT9A brethren, you can get thousands off an X just by looking at the vendor sections for authorized vendors and dealerships to buy your car at a smokin' deal. There are several places where you can get an X for $29xxx, and it has all of the content the IX had, plus yaw control and a much more advanced AWD system.
Ridiculous posts like this are the case in point why we have to moderate heavier in this section. The X owners (or in this case, someone intersted in an MR) shouldn't have to sift through this crap when trying to read information.
If you want to get technical, you don't have a pure bloodline Evo, since the US CT9A cars were all neutered of their SAYC and hence their GSR designation from Mitsubishi. Change is inevitable. If you cannot accept it, leave the X forums alone and contribute positive things to the 1-9 forums which highlight the car you love.

Great post man!
Ain't that the truth! Fact of the matter is, the X is just way too overpriced for the market. Although Mitsubishi is trying to attract older more financially endowed buyers with the Evo, majority of these buyers will never pay for $40k-$50k for a Mitsubishi. One would argue that no one would pay for $70+ for a Nissan GTR then? The difference is that with $70k, the GTR gets you performance that rival cars twice as much. Plus, the interior is well appointed befitting it's high price tag. With the X, you're paying more than the previous model but with less the performance. Mitsubishi had the formula right with the 2003-2004 pricing. For $28k MSRP, you're getting the performance of cars priced twice as much.
And don't rag on us early adopters. If it weren't for us, you guys would even be able to buy the X stateside.

why would you want to Mod a GTR .. It already has sick performance, the only Mod needed would be to improve your driving skills. And if not for GTR, I would have no problem paying $50K for an MR , but since its so close to GODZILLA price point, I just can't resist.
Keep my modded 8 only for track days, and stock GoDzilla for weekends/some track days. ..
