Evo X MR beats 911, Elise, and STI
They never actually said Porsche Turbo in the video. If it were a Turbo it should be ahead of the Evo and close to the GT-R and R8. I mean, the Turbo is something like 480HP and 460 Tq plus AWD, which should have it handling the Evo no problem. Even though the SAWC/SAYC and TC-SST are brilliant, you can't make up THAT much power with good AWD.
Pause the video at 0:51 and look at the sides of the Porsche - no vents on the rear fender, which are the hallmark of the Turbo. Also, the azz doesn't look wide enough for it to be a "4" (they're about 2 inches wider over the rear wheels), which means it's probably just a standard old RWD 911, with 325hp and 273 tq. Even if it was an "S" it's only 355/295. That's why the Evo beat it. Again, not to knock the Evo at all as I love it, but just didn't want people getting the impression that the $40k-ish MR would beat a $125k 911 Turbo, that won't happen unless the Turbo's driver blows. I've ridden in the Turbo and it is FAST. A C4S should be close to the Evo, but its AWD isn't as good so it's not as easy to drive.
FWIW, "997" is the designation for all current-bodied Carrera 911s, turboed or not. You can call any 2008 911 a "997" and be correct. The current-gen 911 Turbo can be called a 997 turbo if you want to be picky.
Just my $1.02... as someone who knows 3 Porsche owners and has a bit of experience on the subject.

, no one said anything about it being a TT. The 4 doesn't make them any wider, btw, its the S that makes them the 2 inches wider. The only difference between the C4 and the C2 is the rear windshield wiper, a different spare tire set-up, and Porsche AWD (nowadays at least, with the older 996es they were also the only ones with full on PSM, now they all have full on PASM).And I don't know what the hell you're talking about the C4S's awd not being as good. Maybe not as good as the X with S-AWC, but my '99 C4 drives like all the vids/articles say the JDM Evo 8/9 drive with AYC. Point and click. Its a bigger piece of cake to drive than my 8 ever was (other than the 8 being on slicks...). When magazine articles talk about the confidence that the 996/997 inspire, they aren't kidding. If your knowing 3 Porsche owners makes you the expert... then consider me the professional
I know about 6 personally, many more as acquaintances (from boxsters, to cayennes, to turbos, to gt3/2s, to one guy with a Carrera GT), and one very very very well
. Been a Porsche fanboy since I was 12, before I even knew much about cars I wanted a 993. Then I got into cars, and REALLY wanted a 996. Still can't believe there's one sitting in my garage. Not only is the turbo fast, like you said, but they're as moddible as the Evo X mr... maybe not for quite as cheap. But there is a company on here (can't remember their name) who has a turbo putting like 650 to the wheels, if I remember right... Two GT35Rs and a bunch of other stuff. You put just 500 to the wheels in a 997 TT and a lot of things would have a hard time keeping up, things already have a hard enough time keeping up with the stock power, I know I never had an easy time chasing them down on track in the Evo, even with R-comps until after I got slicks.

It is said that GTR costs that much, but the truth, GTR got mark up like crazy.

. I dont no about you but can you imagine a Evo X for $33,000 and then put the extra $67,000 into it. Holly Molly.
Now that would be one bad *** evo x.
If you aren't already on the waiting list for a GTR, you wont be able to get it for $70K. Most dealers are marking it up $5-10K. I dont think it's really fair to compare the Porsche and Elise to the GTR--both are way under powered and have a different purpose than the GTR.
I am lucky enough to own a Lotus, 911 Turbo, and STI. If given a choice for another car, the GTR would be it. My STI is over 5 years old, and when I replace it, I am definitely going to consider the Evo X.
