Nope, not any time soon. The top-level WRC class basically requires manufacturer involvement, and Mitsu pulled out or WRC. They are heavily supporting some of the lower classes around the world (and Canada in particular), so privateer efforts may use Evo X's, but you aren't likely to see one in WRC.

The WRC is more than just the WRC class. For example, there is P-WRC and the X already has its first win in that: http://www.wrc.com/jsp/index.jsp?lnk...w%20Mitsubishi. As has been said: no factory support for the WRC class so it's unlikely we will see it there.

 

Mitsubishi has announced that they will be using the "Racing Lancer" in the next Paris to Dakar Rally. They had always used the Pajero or Delica for that event but they have decided to go with the Lancer this time.

So, maybe we'll see some factory support for other Rally races soon.

 

I would go with something more lighter, an IX would definitely be my number 1 rally car

 

nope not with the current rules.
They would have to take out the soul and heart from the X to run in those events.
Not worth it.
Besides the WRC is in trouble because they unjustified rules, they also loosing interest.
Look how many manufacturer running today vs 10 years ago.
Slowly but surly WRC will die out or they have to re group and re organize.

 

 

mitsubishi needs to show a profit before they can dump tens of millions into the WRC...
