MR launch control

finally figured out the exact sequence.

1 S-sport mode, i kept it in auto
2 Asc off.(push once)
3 foot on brake, add full throttle, release brake at 5000 rpm.

very smooth launch. 1st gear is over with faster than you think....

enjoy

OK silly question here. I tried this a few days ago and almost **** myself cause I thought I broke something. I get the whole turn off asc and put in s-sport mode thing, but when I had foot on brake and started to hit gas it started creeping and some sign flashed.

So I think I know what I did wrong and here is my question. Ok, my foot is on the brake....now do I floor the gas, wait till hits 5k rpm and then release brake or do I build up the rpms slowly? Building the rpms slowly is where I think I failed at this, heh. Any info would be appreciated.

I made the same mistake as you. You cannot let the car creep. it will beep and give you a warning to slow down.

follow the instruction exactly and it will work. also only disable asc once. previously, i did the 2-step asc off and could not launch without getting warning beep...

again
1 s-sport, auto mode
2 asc off once
3 hard on brake-no creep, floor it, at 5000 rpm takes only about 1 sec to get there. release brake. hold onnnnn

I think your mistake is not having it at full throttle...........it will automatically hit the 5k rpm range aka launch control.

Ok, so your saying not to hold down the asc button till it beeps? Instead just hit the button so its off and thats all? Then hit the brake, floor the gas and let go of brake at 5k or so rpm? Right?

Is this info not in the manual??? I am wondering why so many people ask about it, while they have the info available.

The Evo X MR manual actually does hint at this method for launching. I don't have it with me, but the manual says not to hold the brake down while pressing the accelerator, or the car will take off very rapidly when you release the brake.

My question is: what happens if the gearbox breaks by doing this? At some point I am sure the clutch(es) will fail, and the gearbox is apparently not a serviceable component (the manual states that the entire gearbox will need to be returned to Mitsu for replacement). I think I will avoid launching until someone figures out how to service these gearboxes.

I agree with above. This is obviously done at your own risk.

For me personally, just good to know it is there.....

Warning: To activate Launch control make sure the car is in S-SPORT MODE and ASC is OFF, or a "slow down" message will appear.

What is the difference between pressing the ASC ONCE and pressing and HOLDING ASC for a couple seconds?
I have only launced the MR when the ASC was press and held.

You guys are lucky. I have an R32 which comes with DSG. Our launch control is at 3200rpms It launches OK, but would be better if we could get the rpms higher.
