GSR - MR different power ?

Hi to all,

To the best of my knowledge, the GSR and the MR have exactly the same engine and same ECU maps, therefore the same power. However, a respectable magazine in Greece dyno'ed a GSR and a MR and there was significant power difference for the GSR (Mustang dyno both):

MR: 231.1 WHP @ 7000 / 29.2 Kgm @ 4700 / 1.1 bar
GSR: 248.6 WHP @ 7200 / 32.6 Kgm @ 4400 / 1.35 bar

A difference of 16 WHP is quite large... Any ideas ????

Every car is different... You an dyno 2 GSR's and 2 MR's and get significantly different results. Ive noticed especially with these cars no 2 are exactly the same.

yeah but 16 whp is a lot on the crank to being different. usually the difference between 0-8 whp. As stock.

How does this explain the difference in maximum turbo pressure (1.35 bar vs. 1.1 bar)

maybe they more cautious with the SST? or the MR have a boost leak.

i'm just gonna have to say no to that.

Some magazine dyno'd 3 different stock Evo's same trim - and they all had completely different power levels. as much as 15-20whp difference between 2 of them.

can you link me to that? i never saw anything like that before.
15-20 whp difference is more than some cat back gains all together.

Didn't they say that the MR had problems being dyno'd on a chassis dyno? Something about the system thinking the car was in a skid and cutting power and traction?

Um, transmission losses anyone?

Normally a manual is way more efficient than an auto when dynoing. Now with the SST who knows.

But the sst isn't an auto. There is no torque converter to rob power. They both share the same drivetrain minus the tranny which uses two wet type clutches. Looks like the boost pressure is to blame.

AMS also found MR's to dyno lower than GSR's on their dyno.
