Evo X MR vs IS350
Exact conversation between two of my friends after giving him a ride
Friend A - New IS250 owner
Friend B - Not into cars and wouldn't be able to tell the difference if two cars had 4 doors and a trunk
A: So.. what do you think of my new ride?
B: I'm not sure, its quite small inside, the ride feels like the Corolla I rented couple months ago

I feel that you can not compare the two. It's apples to oranges... they serve different purposes but if you MUST compare you need to throw in the E90 330i into the mix. It was compared time and time again to the IS350 and won every time in almost everything but straight line performance. Most importantly it easily tromped the Lexus in the fun to drive segment.
The IS is better for someone who doesnt plan on modding much... I really liked it and actually test drove it twice because i was really between that and the 335i...
In the end i really couldnt justify spending 44k otd for that car... I found the G35 sedan to do everything the IS350 does for a 4000 less.
Cheers!

My father works for Lexus. The day I drove by the house with the evo he didn't know what to say. My whole family is pro Toyota motor corp, so I broke the mold by trading in my LS for an Evo.. I haven't had the chance to test drive the IS350 but if its anything like the other IS cars I would say don't waste your money. Lexus is the classy lady to take home to mother...the evo....thats ya freak on the side, it does whatever you want it too..So ask yourself friend...lady..or Bus it baby!!!LOL Oh and as for the IS -F with the money you save from buying an evo, you can easily beat it with aftermarket mods... again may not have the smooth ride but damn if don't feel good to fly past one!!!

I used to drive a modded 2005 Evo 8 with 325 AWHP. What a nice car, nothing handles better than an Evo! It's so easy to mod, good looking no matter what people say, it has a mean look from every angle!
On the other hand the IS350 is a good looking car, great package. It's not as quick as the Evo, but it's fast as well. Off the line the Evo will kill almost every car on the road, but at the 1/4 mile they both have almost the same trap speed (104-105 MPH). Handling can't be compared, again nothing handles better than the Evo.
You have to understand that they are 2 totally different cars, so what are your priorities? If you want to drive a car that makes you feel like in a racing seat all the time, then the Evo is for you. Now if you want a fast car that has great quality, excellent finish (the Evo's interior feels cheap compared to Lexus), and not everyone wants to race at each traffic light, then the Lexus is for you.
I miss my Evo, and I'm considering getting another one (either Evo 8 or 9) later on as a weekend car. The reason for me to switch cars was because I needed something more refined, more suited to my job position... so I got the ISF. It was quite uncomfortable to take visitors out in the Evo, too rough of a ride!

Both will rattle...a lot. The catch, though, is that you expect the Lexus to NOT rattle, but it will. You expect the Evo TO rattle, and it will. Therefore, the Lexus will disappoint you more because you expect a quiet and civil experience. After 2 weeks, that will be gone. And you will be
Get the Evo. If the thought even entered your mind about the Evo, you are already mentally involved with what it's about. Most people looking at a Lexus ANYTHING won't even consider a Mitsu unless they already know what getting the Evo is about. And I think you are that person...
And, just as a caveat, both cars have had issues with their transmissions. So reliability, or less trips to the dealership, is a wash. Although, the Lexus service experience is > than the Mitsu service experience. hmmmm....

Why just limit to a X MR or a IS350.
335i, 135i, G35, G37, TL SH-AWD (When they come out), STi
, point is is that there are tons of options. What are you looking for and what's your price range (or, why are you limiting between a X and an IS?)
Point is, there are a lot of cars that are great performers with comfort around 40k. Especially if you open up to used cars. Trust me, these were the cars I was looking at a year ago.
