Cel

I don't believe this is a repeat post about CELs, although there are thousands.

I've had a CEL on since Friday and can't get in to the dealer until Thursday.

The dealer told me that even with the "Service Engine Soon" light on the ecu limits engine performance (e.g., boost and other things). Is this true?

I know there is a "limp mode" that happens when the light is blinking and that is for serious issues.

I've noticed the cut in boost even though I haven't been driving it hard just in case there really is an issue.

thanks for the d!ckhead reply. i will be sure to provide snide replies to all of the other members who post ridiculous noob threads about "break in periods" and "how to drive with high rpms" and "how to 'peel out' in an evo" and " using the 2 step" from here on out.

my question was: are there really multiple limp modes in the X?

oh yeah mystic korean....sheebalooma *******!

Best thing would be, if you don't have an OBD2 reader then take it to auto zone and they'll check the code for you for free. Once you know what cel code your throwing post it up and someone will deff be able to help you further.

Thank you for making a cohesive 'come back' to some *** harassing your thread.

If this thread is truely stupid and not worth your time, DONT POST!

As for a limp mode, I am sure there is one, but multiple ones? Im not sure that makes sense. I really dont know (I just wanted to say thanks for telling some smartass to **** off) but multiple limp mods would seem unnessesary if the one limp mode reduced the performance of the car in every aspect to the bare minimum to remain functional...

yeah i guess we all have the same understanding.

i know there was a limp mode that really limits the car when there is a real problem. it is when the service engine is blinking and the car will barely move.

i just have the light on and you can feel a subtle change and the dealer mentioned that the ecu changes a few things until you get the dealer to service it. so it just isn't an annoying light. you can't rip in your evo with the service light on like usual.

i am getting it checked out on thursday and will update what the code was. btw this light came on after giving the car hell one day last week.

Maybe the car is getting revenge for beating the **** out of it last week. Here's how you fix this....
Take your car to a professional detailer. No crappy car wash. Give it the spa treatment. Take it home and park it in the a/c cooled garage. Pull up a chair and talk to it. Apologize for giving it hell. Admit you were wrong. Tell her you were a Jerk. Buy it something nice and shinny, all ladies like shinny things. Maybe it will forgive you, get out of limp mode and go back to being a badass girl.

update.

so the code was the famous P1320 code. i went to the dealer (the first that knew what i was talking about when mentioning reflashes). i waited an hour and a half only to find out that their medic crashed a couple of weeks ago and they don't have the latest download and it will take a few hours to be fully updated. so i am a little annoyed considering it took me an hour and a half to get there and waited that long only to drive an hour and a half back empty handed.

Sounds like that Medic program needs a medic too... my reflash was delayed as well due to a crashed program that needed a re-install.

I just had that Exact same CEL (P1320) on my X about 3 weeks ago......took it to AutoZone and they pulled the code for me. Check out a couple threads on here and also found out the 2nd reflash takes care of issue. Went to dealership and tech was able to fixer up.
