But once again, none of that was an option, as I needed to be under $400 a month (sorry to repeat myself )
My wife would not have alowed me to spend more monthly, not that I could really afford it...
And I trust her decisions since she has me out of debt, my credit has gone up by100 points and have saved enough to buy a home in the future.
So since our 2 next cars will be cheap no $ down leases, of probably boring family cars, it was my last chance to enjoy my 4th and last AWD turbo vehicle.

Also, as far as I now, this was the only WW GSR in NY. and they didn't want to go lower than $32600 from only a $34104 sticker.

I did find one in NJ. but their deal sucked even worse!

I'm not regreting this at all, I love the car and can afford to enjoy it for at least two years.... unless God forbid it is totaled or stolen.

Thanks alot guys!

Dealers will cram that "rare" sh*t down your throat all day long until you sign the paperwork.

There are plenty of X's in NY, especially WW GSR's.

I'll bet we see that before years end!

That would be nice.

If not, then it's a no go for me.

I'm looking at '08 GTi's in the meantime.

You are repeating yourself because what you don't seem to understand is that you pay much more than $400 a month. Because of your large down payment what you really pay is: $5062.50/23mths + $388.49/mth = $608.60/mth for 23 months. Doesn't seem so cheap now does it? I used to sell cars and one of the biggest mistakes people make is going in to try to get a certain payment instead of negotiating on the price of the car and the total cost of the deal.

lol This put a smile on my face. The real question is "How far are you willing to go to save 3-5K dollars?". South Coast has your car now for $29K and other dealers should be able to match or beat that price...mine did! Of course, I had to walk out of the dealership multiple times over the course of a month and even then they did not want to do it. It was so stripped out that they stopped returning my phone calls and I really think they hoped that I would not come in to buy the car at the price they gave me.

And this is the crux of the situation. Something happens next month and you are screwed. Even though you don't want to think about it, bad things can and will happen but it is not hard to prepare for them. Rule of thumb is to set aside at least 3-6 months of salary and don't touch it. I am military and I see bad financial decisions by these seemingly intelligent people all around me every day. But all you can do is try to educate people and hope for the best.

wow, i see you are very concerned about my bad lease deal... multiple quotes and everything... lol

Yes, I paid the 5K up front, but the wifey doesn't know about it and just thinks I'm only paying around the same a month as my last car.

And if the last comment was directed at me... I believe the military has only brain washed you to think you're smarter than everyone else.

Lying to your wife about 5K ? That ain't exactly easy to come by in my household, my wife would blow a gasket if she found out I dropped 5K on a car she didn't even know about to get my payments down.

Better hope she never sees your paperwork!

In all honesty, I really could care less. I was just trying to show you that no matter what your situation is there is ALWAYS another option.

Actually, it wasn't. I was speaking of my fellow military members, with whom I work/serve with. But it's interesting to note your opinion of the individuals who maintain your freedom to make these decisions, be they good or bad.

Ended up going with an '08 GTI tonight... Should have it by Monday. (Dealer found a left over '08 with the options I wanted).

For 0% APR for 72 months on the GTI, Mitsu can keep their overpriced Evo X.

Fun car, but overpriced sorely.

overpriced? Have you even driven an X? I mean really driven one?
Just remember you get what you pay for. No comparison between the two cars, And this Mitsubishi will keep you in my rearview. Have fun with the car, hopefully no regrets.
