Hi, just bought 1 today but before I can install it, I dropped it and the plastic frame and cotton drop out...my question is, which orientation should the filter be?

1 side looks like open cell foam...the other side looks like hairy cotton type.

Logically, the open cell foam side (since it should provide lesser filtration) should face the snorkel and the hairy cotton should faced the MAF right?

Or is it the other way?

Didn't come with instructions??? Also i am asuming you look how the stock one is install??? The form of the filter should be similar to the stock part, so oriented the same.

 

You mean the entire green filter came out of the plastic piece right? because you can't really confuse how to put the plastic piece in unless you are some fool from a different planet. I believe the more sponge like surface was the one that was in the front. I can't be to sure. Sorry. If you still have trouble I can check later for you manually under my hood.

 

nah..no instruction...should be a 10 mins job to diy..just that I wanted to confirm which side of the filter be..if you saw the filter before, you will understand..

 

appreciate that...yes..the entire green filter drop out..the plastic piece fits with no issue..I just wanted to confirm which side teh green filter should faced...the sponge side shuold face the snorkel inlet or the maf..that's all..i could drive back to the dealer to take a look too on monday.

 

Go to your car and open the air filter box, remove stock filter. Pay attention on how it was installed. Now replace with HKS filter so it fits the same way.

I don't think there's a way to install it wrong. Most devices now days are made MTV generation proof an so on.

go do what i typed then tell me how that worked. Is just and air filter, if you can't figure out that way then put the stock one back on. Nothing will be hurt.

P.S. Dont drive without a filter, and if you are not sure if is installed correctly dont drive it either.

If so then just go to the car and try what i said, is easy.

Just to be clear, you want to know how to install the filter in the car, or fix the plastic from the filter that fell and not sure how it goes???

 

once again..I am not asking how to install the filter...I can do that with my eye close with more practise..

Why did you take it apart? The fluffy side faces the front (snorkel).

 

He droped it and it fell apart.
